Hey Guys!

So, I have a question. What were the Halcyon Days of Halo Combat Evolved? I have heard and seen references to it from my friends and even in the Second latest Bungie Blog entrance. I'm a huge Halo fan but I still haven't been able to find out what this was.
Sorry if this is not enough for a complete thread but I don't want to be left out.:)

Halcyon is an adjective basically meaning "the good days of old." For example, one may look back to their childhood fondly as "halcyon days."

So the "Halcyon Days of Halo: Combat Evolved" refer to the days when Halo: CE was in its heyday, it's not a specific timeframe or special event.

(Fun and unrelated fact: the UNSC Pillar of Autumn was a "Halcyon Class" cruiser.)

I'll take a stab at it. Although, the term will mean different things to different people. It was probably from 2002 until the release of Halo 2. This was a time when everybody loved the multiplayer so much they would buy computer monitors or 19" TV's and all meet a friends house and play LAN all night long or until they got kicked out for too much screaming and yelling.
X-box live is far to convenient and now everybody can meet up online and not have to relive that little bit of yesterday.

Wow, This (And the guy's before you) description is great!
I really wish I could have been a part of these days. While I never had massive LAN parties back when Halo Two came out, I have been kicked out of a friend's house because of too much screaming during a Four player Multiplayer match (We just snuck back into his room through a back door!). Wow, Only a Halo game could have brought this much fun. I wonder if Halo Three will ever have Halcyon days....

I think the term means a period different for different people.

For me I was only able to have a couple of MP lans of H1, for me it was all about the campaign. I must have played through the game 20-30 times in the 2002-2003 period, so that was my halycon days of H1.

Latter half of 2005 and first half of 2006 was for H2 ;)

Sure it will, you just need a period of time to pass, so you can look back on your H3 gaming with fondness. Nostalgia always makes you feel good about the things you used to do, and you often forget about the bad bits.

Like for H2 I really did enjoy my 'halcyon' period, but at the time there were tons of modders/standbyers and stuff, but you kind of erase them from your memory :)
