By all that's good... he can flip a tank with ONE HAND! If he's not augmented mechanically in some fashion I'll eat my hat! Even freakishly large men that you see in various Strongman contests can't just reach out and flip over an M1-Abrams tank.

A man with mechanical augmentation is a Cyborg, but he is still a human. That is one of the key defining themes in the Cyberpunk genre. Exactly how much metal and microchips in your body does it take before you cease to be human?

The Master Chief emerged from his code. After seeing his dynamically lit realtime shadow, he went back for 9 more months of development.

On Reach, a secret military project to create cyborg super-soldiers takes on newfound importance.

Direct from Bungie -- Spartans are cyborgs.

Yes, but his muscle mass was increased by a stimulant, much like sterroids, just much more effective and permanent. This is not mechanical augmentation. It is through drugs.

What on the Spartans is aritificial?
Their bones are coated in carbide ceramic.
A platinum implant in their thyroids.
And a neural implant.
Plus when they put their armor on it connects directly to their brain.

*thinks on Sprtn043's comment a bit*

Perhaps, though I truly don't think the sinew could withstand the strain. The master chief is big, though he isn't as large as some of the largest men in the current world. He could perhaps, in addition to the having a more efficient musculature have additional adrenal glands. Still, I find the idea of a "perfect human" lifting much more then 1000 kg to be insane.

A tank weighs in at about 50 Metric tons and he's doing this with one hand? Just to avoid having his spine crushed he's going to need a reinforced skeleton (Which he has according to the novels)

Further, on a tangent, you have to wonder why, if has the capacity to juggle a tank, he can't leap fifty feet into the air with those mighty muscles?

Yep, cyborg alright.

LoL, not even the moderator has his facts straight. No offense, don't ban me or anything, but he really isn't a cyborg, which is why Bungie has decided to make him look more human in Halo 2. The only way he is attached to his suit is basically that plug-in in the back of his head, leading to the neural implant in his brain( a biological brain not machine). And his suit is completely removeable, it just takes a really long time.

I really like what was said previously.

Bungie's says he's a Cyborg... The grunts say he's a cyborg... so he's a Cyborg unless Bungie says otherwise *lol*

I'm not saying he's isn't human. Definition of cyborg:

A human who has certain physiological processes aided or controlled by mechanical or electronic devices.

Yep, he's a cyborg.

Im with Stosh on this one. Also, to who ever said "then why does he take off his helmet?" Haven't you seen Robocop. That cat was a full blown robot and he could take his helmet off and you could see Murph's face. He has to be a cyborg because look at Halo 1, he took more hits than all Marines in the game combined and he survives. "Never send a human to do a machines job." A movie said that once. Not far from the truth in this game now are we...

He's both a human AND a cyborg. Quite easily and sufficiently explained by many others. A cybernetic organism is an organism enhanced through mechanical or cybernetic means. Look at it this way:

CYB (Mechanical) ORG (Flesh). A union of man and machine.

And also, Robocop was a cyborg. Remember that he was human, killed, and enhanced via technology. Despite his programming, he still has organic parts. Cyborg.

Why do I feel like I've not only repeated everything everyone else has said, but I repeated myself four times in the same post? Guess I just want to clarify, eh?

dumbass... listen to the grunts. sometimes they'll say "bad cyborg" and if you ever read the books... actually he is human but they consider him a cyborg cuz of his MJOLNIR armor. And the freezer thing was a god damn cryo tube. why in the hell do you think they kept saying cryo, cryo, cryo on the pillar of autumn and the maw.

By the way, the Grunts say "mad cyborg", and also, just because he looks like a cyborg doesn't mean he is. He is definetly Human. Just because he was in a cryo-tube doesn't make him a cyborg either. In the book "Fall of Reach", Captain Keyes also slept in the cryo-tube.

I agree with Stosh. You have to be Human to be a Cyborg. I think the real question is "Is Master Chief a Human or a Robot?" Because really, you can still be Humanand be a cyborg as well.

His armor is not surgically attached to his body, it says even in the books that they can take them off for repairs.

Only Noobs would call Master Cheif a Cyborg...he's a genitcally engineered super soldier with 5X times the strength and vision of a normal person wearing cutting age strength/reflex/vision enhancing suit.

I think some people are confused at the meaning of a cyborg. He is a Human AND a Cyborg. He is both... at the same time! It is quite possible to be a human and a cyborg at one time.

if you call master chief a cyborg your a dumb ass. He's a human that has been genetically enhanced and trained to be a -blam!- bad ass killing matchine. He's a human with a kick ass sute tha makes him super strong. But he is not a cyborg.

He is definately a human. A cyborg has metal body parts, like robo cop. The only thing metal in him is his nueral implant, and every UNSC marine has them. So if youre saying that he is a cyborg just because of his implant, then youre saying EVERY marine is also a cyborg.

his entire skeletal system is coated in metal to make his bones strong enough that his armor wouldnt break them whenever he tried to use em'

ALL U STUPID PEOPLE LISTEN, HE IS A HUMAN WHOM HAS HAD CYBORNETIC ENHANCEMENTS AND BIOCHEMICAL ALTERATIONS ALSO.

HE IS TECNICALLY A CYBORG BECAUSE HE HAS ATLEAST 1 CYBORNETIC ENHANCEMENT.

ALSO DONT FORGET ABOUT THE DEVICES HE HAD PUT IN HIS EYES TO MAKE HIM SEE BETTER

He is a Cyborg, it says so in the damn game manual. As for bleeding, he can do that. A cyborg is just a human with mechanical modifications. Hell someone with a pacemaker is a cyborg.

He is not a cyborg. He is not a cybernetic organism, he is a human being, augmented yes, but human. Just because he wears the MJOLNIR Mark V soon to be Mark VI (in Halo 2) armor, doesn't mean he is a cyborg. He doesn't always where the MJOLNIR and certainly can live without it. Just because a soldier puts on some armor, you think it means he becomes a different life form? No, it simply means he is a human with a specially designed armor to enforce and multiply his reflex, speed and strength. Yes under all the shiny green armor there is a man.

He's a -blam!- cyborg, cyborg is a half man half machine, you think that MC can just lift tanks with his human arms, plus it has always been said he is a cyborg, look in the dam manual for the game.

There is nothing mechanical about John himself, only his suit. How the hell is he a cyborg if he not even fraction of a machine? The MJOLNIR you may want to consider a cybornetic object, but the Chief isn't.

oh my gosh Master chief is not a cyborg and he doesn't have metal on all his bones i dont' know which of you dumb asses said that. But it tells you in the book that he just underwent an operation that made his bones as strong as steel it didnt' say they put steal on his bones. And a cyborg is a machiedn and wouldn''t fell emothions or pain, but master chief does so he is a human
