Ach! Was ist los?

Can the B.net forum profanity filter (-Blam!-, etc.) be made forum specific?

If so, I have an idea that might make the Ninjas' jobs easier, make the Underground, Septagon, and other non-Halo forums cleaner, and give the rest of us a good laugh all at the same time.

Quite simply, why not make the filter code in the non-Halo forums censor the word 'Halo' and replace it with something like '-That other Bungie game!-'? I doubt it would take very long for all those people who post without reading the rules to figure out where their complaints belong. If the need arose, the filter could also be programmed to replace 'Xbox' with '-That Microsoft console!-' and the like.

Possible? Practical? Cool? Not cool? I'd be interested to hear what the Powers that Be think of this.

It would certainly be funny but i'am not sure they'd go for it.

Hmm... it's an interesting idea, and I would assume that making forum specific profanity filters wouldn't be that difficult of a task, but the confusion that would arise from this filter might not make it worth the trouble.

Talk of a Halo 3 technically belongs in The Underground. If someone were to compare the Marathon story to the Halo story, I would think it would belong in The Underground (since those in New Mombasa probably couldn't care less about Marathon).

What if I were to say, "Hmm, the Banshees in PiD kind of look like a halogram of sorts"? It would end up looking like, "...like a -That other Bungie game!-gram of sorts" (I don't know why I would say that, but you get the point). All that I am saying is that you can't just exclude certain words that might pertain to multiple forums.

Edit: It's spelled hologram, isn't it? Damnit.

As I see it, that wouldn't be any worse than having the Underground swamped by this 'omg were is halo 3 u suk' BS.

And I'm sure the people who have a legitimate reason to talk about Halo, such as in the analysis of connections to other Bungie games, would find some other way to make it plain that they're talking about Halo.

In any case, I think something needs to be done.

That should be done on all the forums on April Fool's day. That would be hilarious!

How about a complete forum wide filter that changes the word "noob" to "very intelligent individual" or the word "bungee" to "I cant spell" I don’t think that would give arise to any confusion.

Ach! Was ist los?

Meh... I didn't propose this just for its comic value, you know.

Is there a Mr. Achronos in the house?

"heh"

Yes, this is him, I have just taken over squee with mind control.
Nah, just kidding. But yeah, new filters, that sounds cool.

That's a great idea BobBQ. I like everything about it. Replace "Halo" with "That game you shouldn't be talking about here".

Funny... I'd like to see something like that.

Although, what if someone was asking a question. The filtering would have to explain what game the person was talking about. Or else I couldn't redirect them to the proper forum.

Replace "Halo" with "That game you shouldn't be talking about here".

I like that... It would help prevent confusion because everyone who's actually read the rules would know what game that is.

I like that idea. Can't say it would be too easy to for Achronos to get working on just one forum, though.

After a while, people will just use Hal0 or H4lo instead...

I like the suggestion though, thumbs up!

Even so, it would still help.

See, most of the Halo posts in the Underground are created by first-time posters who haven't read the rules and wouldn't know about the filter. If they bypass it and continue to post Halo material in the wrong places, they would be in violation of B.net rules and require a quick smack of the BanHammer.

I would actually kind of enjoy this.
A halo 2 basher would be like "That game you're not supposed to talk about here is -blam!-!" Haha. That would be funny.

It would be cool, but I don't think it'd be very practical.

I would like to see, just for giggles, the word blam in all the forums replaced with -Naughty Boi!- on the next april fools day. I'd be rolling in the floor all day. It'll never happen, but it'd be funny as hell.

We could replace things with links, such as something that says 'halo 2 mp' becoming 'Post This In Zanzibar' And, as a side note, we should make a bungie future forum, so all of the "OMG PMIPS AT SAE RIMES WIHT HALOE 3# !!1111!" posts won't pollute our beloved underground.
