Error: Halo Mac Demo does not exist. Retry, Abort, Cancel?

Just buy the game. It's worth it. ;) Or, if you have access to a PC elsewhere (such as at a friend's house or something), just try the Halo PC demo. They're exactly the same game, only on different platforms.

Either the poster of that article is posting complete BS, is confusing the demo with the real game, or he has software that enables him to run Windows software. There is a software package out there for Macintosh systems that supposedly allows you to run Windows programs (similar to Wine for Linux), but I've never used it and wouldn't count on it to run games very well, if at all. Notice the reaction of the followup posters. They're just as baffled as we are. ;)

In short, no, a Windows executable will not function on a Mac natively.

virtual PC and other emulators allow you to do this, BUT THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL you could play Halo usually a windows emulator, mac gamers can't even use it to play counter-strike...with all the settings way down.

In short, the article was total BS.

Do you think that virtual PC would be able to run Halo CE and HEK. I desperately want for Halo CE and HEK to be ported to the Mac. http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=438249&vie wreplies=true

Nope. That's what Crusader was trying to say. People have apparently used Virtual PC to try playing CounterStrike, which is a game that takes up vastly fewer system resources than does Halo, and they can't even get that to work with all the settings turned down. I'd imagine Halo would run at about 1 frame per year, if it would even start up under a virtual machine. Running emulation software is not a solution for getting a Macintosh version of Halo CE/HEK.
