New playlists are interesting and the do help the games stay fresh, but I'm not seeing any mention of the 500 lb. gorilla sitting in the Big Team Battle corner, which is quitters. I played about a dozen rounds today and nearly all of them were decided by which team had more quitters. In one battle my teammates talked about scoring as quickly as possible to get the other team to quit and that's exactly what happened. Then we were left with 3 rounds of 8v4 slayer in an assault game.
With the new playlists, for example, I can't imagine the 3v3v3v3 team format working for more than about 60 seconds. One team scores or takes the lead, and all you need is one person to quit on one of the 4 teams and that team is out of the game completely. I predict that by the final bell only about half of the starting people will still be playing.
Bungie obviously can't stop people from quitting, but they can make more of a penalty for those who do. I can't imagine that anyone is staying in a game because they are worried about being the lowest ranked player on a losing team. Judging by the fact that nearly every game has a minimum of 1-3 quitters it's obvious that people are quitting without any concern for the consequences. I’ve held out for the longest time from quitting but I’ve grown tired of being spawn killed because I’m one of a few players who didn’t quit and are outnumbered 2-1. What’s the point?
Why not create rules where quitting three games in a row lowers your level? Something that shows a pattern or something that's done for abusive people. Sometimes people have to leave, and that's understandable. But for now too many games are being decided in a minute or less if someone scores first in that short period of time.
Also, I’m not seeing any mention of new rules for betrayers or abusive language. Twice tonight I booted people for betraying me (not accidentally, both times they fired at me then beat me down), but in reality the people who do this really don’t care about their level so having that be the penalty does nothing to discourage them.
Also, I can’t go more than 3 games without hearing the word “-blam!-” or some other racial slur. I report these people but, again, obviously people are doing it without any concern at all for the penalty which means the penalty is useless overall.
So, unless Bungie spends more time trying to solve these problems I can’t see the new playlists really doing much for me, personally. Your number one goal will still be to try to keep your team from quitting and living through betrayers and insulting language.
I hear you man, and completely understand. But Bungie can't do anything to people for leaving a game, because it's the player's choice; and Bungie can't judge them for that.
As for the language, it just shows how pathedic Americans are; we are the stupidest and fattest country in the world (excluding 3rd world countries).
