I think you're able to carry 2 weapon configs... Like a Battle Rifle in one slot and then two SMGs in the other slot... Not sure though.

If you would watch the E3 2004 multiplayer demo it shows you. =)

Yes, but can you switch to your other weapon while your dual wielding without dropping a weapon. I sure hope so, because that would be stupid.

You can cary 3 guns in all. You can dual-wield 2 one handed weapons while holstering another gun.

You can do both;
Q: How does dual wielding work?
A: Currently, to dual wield, you simply approach a second weapon that is lying on the ground. You'll see the standard "press X to swap weapons" message appear in your HUD. However, if it's a one handed weapon, you will also see "Press and hold 'Y' to dual wield". If you do that, you will pick up the gun in your left hand. R-trigger fires the right weapon, L-trigger the left. You can't melee attack or throw grenades while dual wielding. You can stop dual wielding at any time by pressing melee attack (discards extra weapon) or by pressing Y to switch to your secondary weapon

You can drop one of your dual weapons by either pressing the (B) button, or by pressing the (Y) button. One you press to drop the right weapon, and the other to drop the left, but I don't remember which is which. This way you don't have to drop one weapon then have to trade if that's the one you wanted to keep.

I'm pretty sure you can carry two smaller dual wielding weapons, because on one of the Halo 2 movies on the Halo disc, Master Chief carries two Sub Machine guns and a battle rifle.

That'd be the E3 2003 I'm sure? Other nice things in that vid is unlimited health and ammo... Are we going to get that in Halo 2? Not likely.

Never mind, someone already answered my question and the rest were not what I was asking. I know how to do all that crap, I'm not new to the forms, I just wanted an opinion and I got it. Also, I've seen all the videos a milllion times, its just I wanted to make sure you can dual wield and switch to your next weapon then switch back without droping one of the dual wielded weapons.

You Dual Wield two one handed weapons and put away your other weapon. Once you switch you drop the weapon you were Dual Wielding with.

When you switch from dual wield to your other weapon, you DO drop one of the dual weapons.

I think it's great, this way dual wielding becaomes a 'pick-me-up' situational advantage where you go "hey, another one handed weapon, aright let's take some guys out" and you use the dual wielding for a short amount of time at close range, switching back to your reliable weapon and dropping a dual wielded one when you're out of the fray.

This way dual wielding stays a temporary John Woo movie kind of action sequence instead of running around and EVERYONE has two guns, more variety like this.

When he picks up the energy sword he drops the needler and the SMG

Let me break it down for ya'll:

-have a 1 handed weapon in you hand hold x to switch with the new one or y to pick and duel wield both
-if you have a 2 handded weapon in you'r hand hold x to pick up a new weapon
-if you'r duel wielding weapon and you pick up a 2 handed weapon it drops both duel wielded weapons
-if you'r duel wielding and find another 1 handed weapon hold x to swith with right weapon or y to swith with left weapon
-if you are duel wielding and want to go to you'r reserver weapon by pressing y it drops you'r left weapon and swithes to you'r reserve
-if you press b to melee while you are duel wielding it drops the weapon
-you can't throw grenades while duel wielding
