Great update, and Invasion is awesome.

Also, the seasonal division thing. How do we tell what division we are in once we get rated? I have a star with a 1 in front of it, which I'm guessing means season 1 or something, but is there a place to see what the different division colors actually look like so we can tell for sure where we are? Just checkin.

Hey, Urk, I appreciate that Commendations will be addressed, but could you tell us the exact metrics required to get them?

Just an Average Joe...

Awesome, thanks Urk.

I like some of the new ways you'll be dealing with quitters. Matchmaking re-enter delays are something the community has been petitioning for a long time, and it's good you've taken notice. I'll also love not having to play 1v8 for the last 10 minutes of a game.

You are in division 1. Steel.

Sure I don't like quitters like too, but what about people who lag out? In Halo 2 and 3 the people who managed Exp. and Rank would still penalize people if they lag out of the match on accident. I would be a rank higher in Halo 3 if my internet didn't suck so much and if the quitterhammer wasn't so bloodthirsty. It's not our fault if we lag out, but still making people lose credits and Exp. just because the weather decided to take a turn for the worse and the wireless highspeed dies sounds a little harsh.

I know I have no rights or a say in the matter in the eyes of our Bungie overlords, but is there some way for a computer to tell the difference between a coward who runs away from a fight and someone who lags out on accident? It could make the whole quitter ban a little more balanced.

It's all fun and games until someone files a restraining order.

Does everyone get into steel or is there a percent?

Does everyone get into steel who plays enough?

I quote "Lastly, and all new for Reach, we have a new type of ban called a Quitter Ban. This is a relatively soft ban, so we will be using it quite aggressively, activating after only a handful of quits and lasting a rather long time. What does it do? A player with a Quitter Ban will be temporarily unable to re-enter Matchmaking for 15-30 minutes following any further quits."end quote

I really don't like aka (I hate) this part. Why don't you just support players joining mid-game? You could give people two options when they start matchmaking 1. "never join mid-game." 2. "no preference to starting a new game or joining a game in progress." But I don't really know if you can do that at this stage in development

Just in general I don't think you should have any punishment like a temporary ban for something like quitting a game. Maybe like a loss of credits, temporary loss of armor perms, or loss of rank. But I really don't think you should temp ban people for something like that. Because your just going to have people sitting through games not doing anything or people who shoot and annoy you the whole time or take all the good weapons.(please don't try to be like GOW2)

If they are any more details to what I quoted please let me know. Like 'is it after several quits in a row' or 'is it several quits in an hour?'

One very quick question.

When Bungie takes off the bans for the file share system when Reach comes out, will that mean that I can also access and use my regular Halo 3 file share. Would seem like it.

I don't think it's for quiting every once in a while.

Steel is the worst division, but I don't know what the percentages are.

But anyhoo, great update. It seems like you addressed every problem I had with the beta.

But how often and how much do you need to quit for it to take affects. Besides I don't like it period. unless it's like 12 quits in a row = 20 min break.

this is all you ever had to do. bungie is about short term punishment and this takes care of all the "my mom made me shut it off" arguments. fine, then you don't need it for 15 minutes. there is no REAL reason to quit if you can be playing again in less than 15 minutes (30 might be a bit much)

Awesome Awesome Awesome. I cage fight, surf and played football. My career choice is either automobile or motorcycle mechanic(import tuners/bullet bikes), professional fighter, or be a game tester for Bungie!!:) I dig video games and got a new respect for Bill Gates and what he did with Microsoft after reading his biography.

awesome screen shots! Invasion is a blast fo sho. My team dominated and only lost 3!

My jokes, so I don't lose them (ignore this):
ZedFish's Opinion on Sgt. Foley.
ZedFish's Forerunner Rickroll.

Ahh, Urk, you do deliver...

You have addressed most of my concerns with this Beta, and you can expect me to preorder the Legendary.

Kudos Bungie, I forever want your babies.

Winner of the 2012 Lurker of the Year award.

I'm watching you.

I think I'm going to like this new system for quitters.

  • 05.07.2010 6:37 PM PDT

GT = H4STE

I was hoping to hear something about why the arena rating system is as bad as it is.

  • 05.07.2010 6:37 PM PDT

I hate dial up

Well... looks like I'm screwed.

Xbox live tends to disconnect frequently for me quite a bit. I'd say its my internet, but it only does it for xbox live, not my PC or anything else.

This is going to be a long few weeks...

  • 05.07.2010 6:42 PM PDT

Good. Quitters absolutely ruin objective gametypes.

Make sure, though, to take note of the people that are the first to quit, and punish them worse than the final person that quits because it's 4 vs 1 on Capture the Flag.

Still, finally punishing habitual quitters, which I like.

Pro update Urk!

Why not stop by my File Share while you're here?

~Long Live Halo 2
Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

You fixed flag juggling?
Not cool, Bungie, not cool.
Other than that, nice update.

this is the beauty of the 15 minute ban. yeah it sucks to have a bad ISP. my ISP sucks too. but it is more your fault that you lagged out than your teammates' and they are being punished just for being matched with you. take 15, call your isp and put in a complaint. reset your router. check you antenna. do a pingtest.net ... then you are right back in it.

i really think it should be 10 minutes and EVERY time you quit/ get booted / lag out, just built in. no other punishment. also you should be booted for not moving your controller for 2 minutes. then the 10 minute ban.
