So, Im building a new PC. One that dosen't have a Nvidia 6150 and windows XP. I need to know if Halo PC/Halo 2 Vista will run on a single ATI HD 5870 with Windows 7? If not, why?

O, and BTW--I don't plan on playing only Halo1/2.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

That card should run those games beyond fine.

Okay, I was asking because I have been reading around, and supposedly the games won't recognize the card because they are so new.

Pioneer and Enthusiast for Halo 3.

I'm not POSITIVE about this.
The type of card your wanting to use may be way to new and advanced for those types of games. However, I do realize, that the more of a new type of card drive you have, the better. It should be able to run PERFECTLY fine, with incredible speed, with no lag at all with those types. If not, it's not the end of the world.

That card is perfectly fine, it will run H2V at over 400 fps without Vsync, and it'll run Halo 1 with over 1000 fps.

Okay, If it dosen't run them, I might just keep playing those games on my current PC.

It runs them, stop underestimating your graphics card.
Those games are so much older.

Compatibility mode if it doesn't automatically work, but you should have no problems running it on high quality if you can run windows 7.

What is compatibility mode? Oh, and I found this
Is this what it will perform like?

you shouldn't have to worry about compatibility mode; but it's something to help windows run older programs- say C&C:RA 98 on XP, you need to set the .exe to "windows 98 compatibility mode"

windows 7 seems to automatically detect and do this for you; and you can easily manually troubleshoot if it doesn't.

and yea, that is how the game will look on high quality.
