My new account is enyad

Anybody else get frustrated at this level when you get to the part when five or six of the flood had rocket launchers?
They didn't care if they died.

The second pulse generator?

  • 05.11.2010 6:56 PM PDT

If it is the second pulse generator it gave me fits on legendary. I fixed it by using a rocket or two of my own and then retreating with the shotgun in hand and spamming frags. Easy once you perfect a plan that limits them to attacking you only from one direction.

Easy solution to your problem. Remember that enemies do not fire at you when you are beyond a certain distance away. Depending on what you are carrying, weapon wise, you can take them out and never even get shot at.

If you have a Magnum, use the scope to stay far enough away that they do not shoot at you and take them out. If you are low on Magnum ammo, there is some in the cache near the cave. If you would rather man up and be a hero, use one of the plasma pistols laying about, go closer (risking some shots being fired at you) and use individual shots (no overcharges) to take out the flood. If you are looking for an approach in between, use the Ghost from the hill you just took the covies out at firing from far enough away to be able to dodge any shots they take.

Yes, there are a bunch of flood with RL's, but they are pretty easily taken out if you use strategy, rather than straight forward brawn. Slow down, think, and you will find it rather fun to find several different ways to tackle the situation.

If it is the second pulse generator, I figured out a pretty ok way to get through. Have frags ready the moment you (back into) the generator. After, head straight to the (first available, and now able to see the entrance) "doorway" and send a frag or two into the entrance. This should take out the RL Flood. After sending the frags, turn away and make your way around the structure towards that same doorway. Will have to blast a few Flood and have a few moments of, "Will my no-shield make it," but you can get there. As a "Legendary no-die run" Haloer, this was the best I could come up with.

My earlier reply was regarding the battle with the flood on the ice pond, just before the battle for the banshee you need to finish the level.

Nestegg's strategy for dealing with pulse generator flood in the structure above the center tower (just before the underground tunnel/bridge part of the level) is very sound. This is one of the hardest places to not die. Once that PG goes up and you are buck arse naked the strategy that seems to work best for me is to move forward towards the exit, toss 1 frag at the doorway and start backing around the corner to my left. Fire off 1 or 2 rockets at the opening area and then switch to a shotty for clean-up detail. Just as many times as I am able to make this work I end up taking myself out with a badly aimed rocket. Once I am shotty duty if my frag tosses do not take out the rocket launcher flood that I may have missed, it is a bad day for ol womy.

All in all, this one battle is one of the best designed by the game creators. You do not have anywhere to run, hide or cry....you just have to keep scrapping until you kill everybody!
