I originally posted this as a response to the Enkidu
topic, but it was slightly off the subject. It was this
line in the intro Enkidu Message that inspired the
theory.

"I roamed the forests as I wished after Enlil starved
the gods." - Enkidu the A.I.

Enlil is a god related to the great flood in Sumero-
Babylonian myth. In a description of Enlil on
Pantheon.org, it states that the flood killed every
human but Atrahasis. I Googled Atrahasis and found
an interesting myth about the flood, but what was
more interesting was that the story related to greek
myth.

The Greek version of the flood myth has a hero
named Deucalion. Deucalion and Pyyhra were
the survivors of the Great Flood because they
were warned by Deucalion's father Prometheus.
(Prometheus is roughly translated as "forethought")
Deucalion is responsible for restoration of the
human race of the flood.(sounds like our good
friend John, No?)

Prometheus was a Titan who helped humans
survive by giving them fire. Prometheus' inclination
to help humans angered Zeus, so he was chained.

"Whoever made such a place must now live in chains;
there is no other explanation for their absence."
-Cortana

Prometheus=Forerunner
John 117=Deucalion (savior of human race)

To summarize, Prometheus seems to be related
to the Forerunner. The definition "Forethought" is an
obvious clue, and if the Forerunner know about humans,
like this allusion suggests, then they would have compassion
for humanity like Prometheus.(This is pure speculation)
John 117 seems to be the son of Prometheus symbolically.
He is fighting the flood, and is mysteriously imbued with
knowlege of the forerunner. (How else would he know how
to work all those panels in alien languages?)

Could John really be a creation of the Forerunner?
John 117 was picked up at Elysium City. In Greek
Myth, the Elysian Fields were places where the chosen
ones of the gods are sent to.

My main motive for creating a new topic for this was to
get feedback and decide if this is the correct route I
should follow in unraveling the mystery of Halo 2's story.
Please tell me what you think!

Thanks for the info Trevkor.
Quick question. Did the books ever mention
anything specifically about prior knowledge
of the systems in any of the spartans?

EDIT: By specifically I mean what were they
thinking, or how they reacted to the panels,
vehicles and such.

Thanks again.
This takes quite a bit out of the allusion, but I'm
not abandoning it yet. More Feedback!

The original post is still there, but a added a
little. I just did'nt want to distract people from the
main topic of the Enkidu terminals.
