i start up my 1.5 year old vista laptop and it asked out of the blue for my product key and said vista is not genuine any one have a clue what thats about its the first time i have ever had a problem with vista.

If you have the original disc then the number should be with it. If you don't have the disc then whoever installed Vista on that machine didn't use a valid key and you might be screwed.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Anything's possible with Microsoft's idiot DRM schemes. I might install Vista again in a bit to see what surprises it offers. If you are using a legit copy, it would be fun to figure out how to fix this.

It's so sad, I paid $150 for OEM Vista strictly to play H2V. What a fool I am. I fell for the trick so easilly. :(

im geussing its a legal copy my laptops an hp and its was factory instaled on it but who knows maybe hp is now in the illigal os buisness

I installed Vista and didn't run into the problem you're having. No idea what's causing it. I installed H2V and found 2 full games of CTF on Coag! Lame.
