I know this sounds off-topic, but it's really not. I'm going to be getting DSL soon, since it recently became available in my area, and my main reason for getting it is to get on Xbox LIVE, and play Halo 2 of course. Anyway, do any of you guys have any suggestions on where I could find quality modems with cheap price tags?

We got ours free for signing a 2 year contract for DSL.

Yes DSL is fast enough. I have 768 down/384 up and have had no lag playing on Live.

I believe so. It's considered broadband. The downstream is 768 kbps, and the upstream is 128kbps. From my knowledge, that should be plenty to join games on reliable hosts. I don't plan on hosting much, if any. If I do though, it'll be 1 on 1 or 2 vs 2 at the most.

Also, what stores? I realize that I can get one from my ISP, however, they're rather costly compared to some others I've seen. I'm just wondering what my best bet would be as far as finding the most bang for my buck.

Btw, thanks for the Motorola suggestion "person whose name escapes me at the moment". LoL.

Crap, I checked the link, but it asks me if I was already browsing the catalog, and if so, to click back, but if not, to click a link which takes me to the main page. I've searched for DSL modems on the site, and it came up with 10 results. Can you be specific as to what the link you sent me was, so I can search for it?

P.S. Thanks again!

I see, but with a router, I still have to get a modem, right? If so, that's not what I'm looking for. I just want a good, cheap modem. Unless I'm missing something, which very well could be the case LoL.

It's off topic enough that you should repost the question in the Flood.
