H2V is a mess, I agree. Do you have a driver you could install for the laptop screen? Or conversely, you could try uninstalling the driver if it already exists. I've heard of gamers having problems when the wrong driver is loaded for their monitor. Seems strange that a driver would even be required, but it might be worth a try.
EDIT: Another thing you could check out is RefreshForce. I've used it to force a refresh rate for stubborn games that change it on me. Maybe H2V would run in fullscreen if you locked the refresh rate to some other value than the default (maybe 60 Hz?).
EDIT 2: Whatever you do, don't force a refresh rate the screen can't handle! RefreshForce scans for available frequencies, but to be safe you might want to acquire and/or read the documentation for the display first.
Man, it's so fun getting H2V to work. GFWL games are so convenient to install and use. Revolutionary!
