Halo 1 & 2 for PC

What you've just said was one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard...At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought...I award you no points. And may God have mercy on your soul.

I was just playing Halo PC and it seems like there are less servers on it than there used to be...Is this game dying or what?

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

It's past its prime, but still kicking enough to find a good game every now and then. I just logged in a few minutes ago; Just over 600 players online.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Not dying compared to Halo 2. Not by a long shot.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time. I know who you are. You are destiny.

I remember when there were easily over 1000/2000 (2000? Dunno) players online. Damn, I loved that game.

It is dying. H2V is DOA, so H2V doesn't count.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

A few days ago, i checked and there were nearly 1000 on at one time!

There are just as many playing unpatched Custom Edition. Why there are so few playing the current patch level I'll never know.

The Sausage King of Chicago.

I used to play Halo CE and Halo 1 on the PC all the time, before I discovered the joys of Xbox live. Every time I logged in to Halo PC, there was always a solid count of 3000+ players online. I got on the other day as well, and there were still thousands online.

I doubt Halo PC is going to die anytime soon.

It really all depends. I was playing a little while ago, and sure; you've got your dead servers, the medium amount of population in servers, and then the small amount. The game is still at the extreme for popular; and no one can tell when it will be dead. It will take about a good 5+ years for this one to die, if that! It's a classic, and classics live on.

I notice that Halo 2 for the PC, might as well just be considered dead, but it's still a great game. I can still find servers and so on, not with to much of a hassle at least.

But the answer to your question would have to be:
Yes, of course it is. Every game died eventually, and then another game comes out to make that dead game being put to the grave. Its called "change." Games change, people change, the world needs change. The population has probably decreased since mid 2007, and has slowly but surely continued ever since then. However, many faithful and loyal Halo PC Fans still gather around to play it all the time, old fans still play it some times, but not all the time.

Man I don't know about that. Look at CS 1.6. That's what happens when you make game properly. Heck even CS Source is about 6 years old now, and it just entered beta for a huge engine update (no doubt related to Mac port of the Source engine, but even still).

Games don't have to die, tbh. When developers actually put some love into their creation and continue to take care of it after release, they don't die like H2V did.

UT3 flopped. UT99 and 2004 are still played quite a bit.

Eh, good point... and Epic really tried with that game (the big UT3 Black update and all). I never could understand why it never took off. Awesome game, imo.

I love UT3. I think people were just too used to their glitches and tactics in the previous versions, and unwilling to learn to master the new version.

I dont know about you, but I don't see anybody play the Nintindo 64 every day. What about the very first gaming console? Even if those were not rare, you would almost never hear of anyone playing it.

Therefore, give it time, everything dies.

Well sure, but games that old couldn't be updated, and just the simple fact that they had no online play really hurt their replayability. Even then, I wouldn't say older games are "dead", I see remakes of older games coming out all the time for services like Xbox Live Arcade and a lot of people use emulators to play them as well. I really wouldn't say the old classics are dead. But you are right, nobody plays them everyday.
