There are a lot of threads running through the forum with cries to Bungie and Microsoft asking if they'd please, PLEASE, PLEASE! bring Halo 2 to PC. Well, I suppose this is another one. But i'm not asking Bungie to bring it to us, i'm asking the forum what you'd be willing to give for it, and what you'd expect in return.

Personally, if I had to pay for halo 2 on a regular basis, they'd have to make it well worth my while.

1. Fix the netcode already; I'm tired of ping porters (people whose image "jumps" on my monitor when I'm shooting at them).

2. Integrate TeamSpeak or another VOIP application into the game so i don't have to type messges for half the game.

3. I want servers. big ones and lots of them. The 32 player game is still just a myth (or a typo...*blushes*). Make a map and a server that gives players that mammouth battlefield feeling.

4. Keep em coming. When you stop making updates and mods for the game, we start losing interest.

Well, to be completely honest, they would certainly lose my fanship. One of the most tantalizing features of h1pc is online play without the pay. Besides, no matter how strict or decisive the filter, no matter how refined the stats may be, there will always be flaws. There will ALWAYS be that random TKer, there will ALWAYS be lag, there will ALWAYS be that one nubtard who keeps spawnkilling. In short, making us pay for online gaming, no matter how great the features, is simply not worth it, in my opinion.

If you're a college soph strapped for cash, you'd feel the same way as well...

Besides, paying for online service can cause an addiction of sorts...if you're not an uber-active gamer (like me,) you'd be paying for service you wouldn't use all the time. Its just like getting a cellphone with more minutes than you'll ever use. Even though you certainly don't need them, you feel compelled to use those minutes up because you don't want to waste all that good money.

Minus - I think it should be optional - I think that since the game will run on private servers that Microsoft should not make it mandatory for players to pay. However, I do realize that H2-style stats would require Bungie to put forth some extra capital. I think players that want services or content such as this from Bungie (like new maps, but not like patches) should have to pay.

Give them a break guys - they have families that have to eat, too.

I think it should be free, as most PC games are. I would like the Halo 2 PC to be Halo online style (for free) "basic", and their could be a "premium" pay-to-play style which would have leader boards, less laggy servers, bigger games (which i dont like because its already hectic enough with 16), levels, and matchmaking, like Halo 2 Xbox live. But I wouldn't pay if it's availiable, I would use "basic" but "premium" would make a few bucks (for not much effort).

Yo people,

But if you come up with this idea, Bungie or Microsoft might see this, and say; "Hmm, i might just do that" So this forum should be out here lol. There is nothing wrong with it, i just dont want to end up playing Halo 2 online by paying. Its not needed.

I disagree with most of the posts. They only way Bungie can do it is if they get $$$, then they can reduce lag, have leaderboards, etc. IF you want something good....well...you have to pay for it!!! I do think there should be a free public server and stuff, but if you want updates, maps, matchmaking, etc. , sorry dude but you are going to have to dish out some dough!

Thanks for posting this topic!

it would be freakin stupid to have too pay for a PC game. just so you could fucing play online. it would just be stupid to charge.

Eloquent. I don't know if you can't spell or if you intentionally misspelled that word in order to get around the language filters, but don't do it again. Thanks.

As for how 'stupid' it would be. Final Fantasy XI, World of Warcraft, and Everquest I and II are all pay to play online games - why? Because those types of games must be run on networked servers owned by the gaming company. They are not run on servers put up by clans or the goodness of some rich gamer's heart.

You people have become spoiled-rotten by using the online system for HPC. You expect there to be servers for you to play, yet how many of you actually have a server that you run? How many of you give back? How many of you could play if tomorrow all the public servers shut down?

Is that going to happen? No. But I think it puts a lot of things into perspective. My point is that it really depends on where Bungie takes the game - you step into a whole new arena when you go to make H2 for the PC. If Bungie decides that you have to pay to play - I'm not opposed to it - it'd just better damned well be worth it. They better do the damned port themselves this time, too.

Spartan - do you honestly think that M$ would let Bungie make this game without thinking of all the possibilities they could exploit to get more of our money? They've already thought of this - trust me.

I still stand by my opinion that if there are any pay to play services they'd better be good, and they'd better be optional.

Yeah i know that when you get these PC with aweome gear, you would get a good result out of the games. Im sorry but when are Bungie going to tell us about Halo 2 on PC, im never gunna buy an xbox, why cant they just say No, i mean come on if it isn't, why wont they just tell us when they are leaving us nearly falling off the edge of our seats when they can just simply say "no"? Because Halo 2 is coming on PC. I mean come on people, use you common sense, it's coming out on PC. Well thats my opinion. IT'S frigin business.

you know we already pay enough for our isp's i mean im not against it but im not for it either we should still get basic service if we dont want to pay but people who want something similar to xbl matchmaking should get to pay for it. am imspire not all of us are glorified idiots who thinks it should be some elses priority to make a server i for one host my own servers(or at least used to till i lost my dsl.) and it can be a pain in the ass. so guys please, before you leave an opinion, please step in that persons shoes.

That was a general comment directed at nobody in particular - I'm glad you had a server - thank you for giving back tot the community.

Don't take a general comment personally. I never said any of you are idiots. I believe I used the term spoiled. We are all spoiled - those of us who play the game and take for granted all the goodwill and effort that goes into making it fun once it leaves Bungie Studios.

I wear a size 11 - US - what size are you? Are you sure I'll fit?

Hey, aM 's done more for the entire community than you'll probably do in your entire time at any forum. Besides, he's had experience with every single aspect of halo on the computer. So can it.

=====><=====

I still disagree with aM, though. We're not all so spoiled that we take those Bungie servers for granted. But I'd rather play on those sometimes TK-and spoilsport servers than pay for service that will inevitably include the same grade of 455holes. No matter how great the filter may be, there will still be all those spoilsports. They're a fact of life.

I totally agree with aM Inspire. Bungie puts a lot of effort into their games and I would pay to make my online experience better. Consider it this way: when you buy the game at any shop its going to cost money. Just think of that money going to the Campaign play. Now if Bungie were to monitor, enrich, and release updates for multiplayer(Which they do for Halo 2), that should cost money also.

aparently no one understood what i was saying. i was never offending am inspire. theres no need to talk smack when i wasnt saying anything. so next time please ask before you flame cause most everyone knows i do not stand flaming. all i was saying was that not everyone at bungie is the way he was saying. and i apreciate everything am has done for us. so you can it please.

maybe, if you allow modding on halo2 pc, then it would cut down on modding for halo 2 xbox. a win-win situation for xbox modding policies and modders.

I'll sit on the fence here.

To a point, I will agree that *some* games should be paid for. The ones that need paying for, which add new content, and provide servers for you. Such as, wow, eve online, etc etc.

However, I dont beleive you should pay for FPS games and the like online. There will always be servers for these, as its also a way of advertising. This will continue for games like halo, CSS, etc.

On the other hand, I wouldnt mind an optional service like live. As long as it was better than live. I would pay for a month trial, to see what it was like.

I only have ever had real problems with twats in halo, as it has such a crappy ban system. No voting either. I dont think I need a service like live, but I would be willing to try it.

Well said, again. I think H2PC should have a votekick feature, imho. You have a very good point that it is unprecedented that an FPS charge to play online. So, if it was an, optional, premium service, I don't think I'd mind it so much that I wouldn't buy the game.

I would first like to point out that you are paying for xbox live service, not Halo 2 xboxlive service, the money goes to M$ not Bungie (well I guess it doses since microsoft owns bungie).

If I were required to p2p, it better damn well be worth every single penny. And if there was matchmaking, it better be optional cause I don't like it. I wouldn't mind paying if regular content/patches/bugfixes come out for atleast a year or two, and when it stops, it becomes free. Custom maps should be able to be used without a separate program, and we should be able to go to modded servers, but it should be mandatory to say something like MODDED SERVER in the title. It can be done automaticaly, I don't care how it works really.

H2 on pc? Nah H2 is already ownage on Xbox Live. And if H1 was on Live, you all know you would be friggin playing it on the XBOX instead of the laggy PC version.
