Subject: Hardest/Easiest level on Legendary.

What would you say is the hardest, and the easiest level to play on Legendary difficulty?

Hardest is probably T&R, SO MANY ZEALOTS!!!

Easiest for me is the Library, although it takes a hell of a long time to complete.

I just find that Covies are way harder than the Flood, the shields and firepower make a huge difference, as the Flood can be just blown away by frags and shotties.

Pillar of Autumn is pretty easy. The cafeteria can be difficult if you aren't agressive. Although, you can just run past the influx of covies and avoid ther hard bits. The staircase/landing can be trying as well. Although, agressive action can position you to take out opening blast doors with a shower of grenades.

Truth and reconciliation I actually had to bypass on Legendary. That Belly of the Beast part was too hard. I finished the rest of the game on that difficulty and came back to master that bit. To this day, I have about a 50/50 chance of getting through it first try.

Yes, the end of "Keyes" can get a little hectic. I've had a lot of trouble on that level before.

This guys' math fails, read this locked thread:
Enjoy this Epic math fail.

I'm on T&R right now, sooo many damned Zealots, it's crazy.

3rd level is kickin' mah Ass. :(

  • 05.18.2010 12:15 PM PDT

Easiest: 343 Guilty Spark. A cakewalk on Legendary IMO.

Hardest: Truth and Reconciliation, crapload of enemies, like 15 zealots in total on legendary, enemies come from all over, no pistol.

RIP Halo 2: November 9, 2004-May 10, 2010
I was the 2nd to last person to get kicked off Halo 2, see the thread Here

Easiest is obviously the 1st level. Not too sure what the hardest would be, maybe the Truth and Reconciliation, since it's so long.

All the levels can be completed with relative ease, it just requires patience. But overall I'd say the hardest level would be Assault on the Control Room, and Two Betrayals, those levels are so god damn hard.

Take for example the "If I had a super weapon" checkpoint. Where you need to make that mad dash for the Banshee. I know you don't HAVE to get the Banshee but it makes it a helluva lot easier. I seriously took at least 15 tries to get that damn banshee on legendary, even on Normal it's still a challenge. Then you get to the control room and there is like 30 covenant right at the door, and a sword zealot. If you stay in the banshee you are almost instantly blown away.

Two Betrayals is also incredibly difficult as well. The mission starts out and you're being attacked for Christ's sake.
Then you must deactivate the what-cha-ma-call-ems. After you take them down with your shield you are INSTANTLY attacked by enemies. God damn that was one the most difficult challenges in my life to date.

How about that "Final Run" check point. Where you need to run past a whole army of Covenant and Flood with rocket launchers and then try to kill the two wraiths and huge army of elites and Flood. You are constantly taking fire from the wraiths and every so often you are attacked by a pack of invisable elites. Once you finally start to make a little progress a zealot will charge you and then two hunters will start firing at you.

I swear to god that is the hardest level to date I've come across in a Halo game.

Still gives me nightmares

Actually, AotCR is the easiest level. If you play it a lot on Legendary, it's easy as hell.

Did you try throwing a grenade at the Banshee to get it away from the Elite? Also, try shooting the Elite. I heard if you shoot him before he gets in the Banshee, he won't get in it.

This part isn't really that hard. Just go up on that balcony and snipe the Grunts with the Pistol (don't worry about that Zealot; he won't follow you up unless you go too close to him) and take cover when they shoot at you.

Note: A key thing that is essential to completing a level on a higher difficulty is that you will want to keep your distance when you're playing on Legendary. You want to kill them from long range, if possible.

Then just snipe the 2 Elites in the back of the area or use a Plasma Pistol overcharge/Pistol combo.

The Banshee is very easy to destroy on Legendary. You should just use it for transportation.

And finally, have fun when you're fighting Zealots. That is how you get past their threat. Throw grenades at them. Run away screaming, "holy -blam!-, NOOOOO!". Attempt to splatter them, even if it's suicidal. And unless you're serious, don't use the plasma pistol overcharge/Pistol combo.

Two Betrayals. The Second Pulse generator is the most infuriating part in the game. Shields go down, and then there are instantly around forty flood combat forms surrounding you in the room. Not to mention that it takes a good 2-3 minutes of fighting rocket launcher flood just to get to this part after the checkpoint when you die.

Hijacking that shee is not hard on legendary at all. (The one on the bridge of AotCR) It's simple. You know that room with the invisible elites before the room with the hunters which is before the bridge? If you go back, if you take a look in the dark corners of the room, you will find an active camouflage. Cloak up, head out quickly, run to banshee while everyone still has no idea what's going on.

This is the easy way, nobody wants to do that. Just kill the Hunters and the reinforcements with the Active Camo.

I only found a couple spots frustrating. Belly of the Beast is one. There, just skip the whole area; soon as a door opens, run inside and ignore the enemies.

The generators on Two Betrayals weren't that hard. Kill everything, grab a shotgun, and make a break for a corner at the back of the room or crouch-jump into one of the vents.

In Final Run, I don't think the Camo'd Elites show up until both Wraiths are dead. I normally take one of the Ghosts up that little ledge, let the Flood kill one Wraith, then take out the other. Shotgun or rockets for the Camo'd Elites and Goldie. One neat trick is that the first locked door on the left side is not actually locked. It shows red, but will open after a couple seconds.

Grabbing the sniper helps a lot, too, if you want to kill EVERYTHING in the area before getting a banshee. (Like I do, much more fun sniping from WAY, WAY back there.)

The second generator is a little hectic, but rather easy if you do this. In that area when you first stepped outside, if you go down into the dip in the land with two doors at the bottom, the one on the left has a rocket launcher, ammo for it, pistol ammo and a pistol, and shotgun ammo. Grab the rocket, continue as normal, then do the second generator thing, step to the left, make sure you've killed all infection forms before deactivating the generator, then spam rockets and frag grenades into the door to kill all the flood, and more importantly, the 2 with rocket launchers. The ones that are already in the room can be shotgun'd easily. You'll probably lose some shield and maybe even a little health. When you get back outside, trigger the fight down in the tunnel, then, in order to buy time, fly all the way back to where you picked up the RL, then go get the pistol. Fly back. The fight should be done, clean up what's left.

Also, you can get a ghost through the jammed door leading to the Final Run. Put it in backwards, get in the banshee, push it through. A ghost can be found in the tunnel leading down to the jammed door.

About me: I am a vicious wolf of a man.

But really am sweet at heart. =)

Easiest is the Pillar of Autumn. You have plenty of ammunition for the pistol and it is shorter than all the other levels.

Hardest is a tie between Assault on the Control Room and Two Betrayals. They both take around 8 days to complete and you start with crap weapons in Two Betrayals.

  • 05.22.2010 5:47 PM PDT

The shotgun and PP are not crap weapons! In Halo 1, the PP is awesome. The shotgun is epicly powerful, too. It also has a REALISTIC range.

  • 05.22.2010 6:37 PM PDT

on T&R in belly of the beast just take cover in one of the halls the covies come out of and use your sniper to pick off zealots or use a plasma pistol or needler to kill them.

The Shot gun and PP are two of the best anti-covenant weapons in the game! Are you high?

Shotgun- Perfect flood killer! (at close range)
Plasma pistol- Perfect sentinel killer!(just overcharge it)

I understand his take. Those two weapons are not optimal for the way the first fight unfolds. When you open the door your Plasma Pistol is already half depleted and you will be engaging Sentinels, a squad of Grunts, two elites and two jackals at medium to long range. I recall a certain difficulty and frustration with my first attempts.

I have always been primarily a fan of Halo Campaigns before Multiplayer, and I like to think I am pretty good at them (I've completed ALL of the them Solo on Legendary more than once).

So, imagine my surprise when I was actually completely stuck on T&R at the Belly of the Beast part on Legendary. I had tried to be aggressive and push into the room, but I ended up with 3-4 Major Elites surrounding me as a hid behind Covie boxes with hardly any ammo left and no guns to pick up. I had to restart the level. I have never had to do that on ANY other Halo level. 'Nuff said....

Yes, the end of "Keyes" can get a little hectic. I've had a lot of trouble on that level before.

I actually played Keys yesterday on legendary. At the end, you know how your on the top level of the hanger? Well, I just said "screw this" and jumped on the spirit as it was coming in. from there I jumped to the middle platform, then down to the escort's banshees. I was able to bypass the hardest part without taking any health damage.
(yes I want a cookie)

Anyways, back OT.

The hardest level is either Two Betrayals, or Truth and Reconcilliation.
The easiest is 343 Guilty Spark. That is, until the end when the flood surrounds you. Your marines are gaurunteed to bite the dust.(mud)

Easiest is 343, no hard parts there at all.

Hardest is probably TB, tough sections in the beginning, one tough pulse generator, the end of the final run is a long war of attrition and spawns.

Also, obligatory lols at people who think Belly and Zealots in general are tough.

Well yeah, that's the easy way to do it. But that wasn't the specific part I was refering to.
I always have troubling getting out of the bridge once the flood and the special ops covenant pour into the room.
