Subject: So... Im into Halo PC Gaming Now

Pioneer and Enthusiast for Halo 3.

Ever since I started considering myself a Halo PC Player, I have been getting major lag during gameplay, and while I'm surfing the web.

I was wondering if you could answer a few questions.

http://www.staples.com/SanDisk-4-GB-Memory-Stick-Pro-Duo/prod uct_715985?cmArea=FEATURED:SC3:CG104:DP1987

What does That do? Will it make my PC Have my free roam space so my PC Won't lag as much?

http://www.staples.com/Western-Digital-My-Book-640GB-Essentia l-Edition-External-Hard-Drive/product_857269?cmArea=FEATURED: SC3:CG104:DP2167

What about this External Hard Drive? Will this make more free space so my PC Won't lag at all?

Thanks in advance.

The memory stick is mostly for storage, and free space doesn't really mean more performance. Could you post your specs?

E4web

What kind of lag is it (network/hardware)? Could you describe it to us? Also, post your specs so we can help.

Specs? Im assuming your talking about whats wrong with my PC? Well first off, whenever I play Campaign, since I have a lot of stuff I use on my PC, I have major lag. I lag about ever second, and it will pause for another second. It's really bad.

Then even when I surf the web, my PC Has major lag. Everything on my PC Is what I need and use.

So once again, will adding storage to my PC Make it perform better? My storage is running low.

Hard drive space doesn't affect performance, it's just there for storage. But if the drive is fragmented a lot it can take it longer to find the data and might make things like startup or Halo a bit stuttery/slow, but it won't go to the point where it lags for a couple seconds.

For specs: Go to Run > dxdiag > Save all info and paste this much.

Huh? dxdiag doesn't increase performance at all, it tells you your specs aka hardware.

Well.. Your processor is pretty decent, your RAM is kinda low but your real problem is your video card. Tbh the only way your gonna make Halo run faster is buy a new video card.

Pioneer and Enthusiast for Halo 3.

Can you post a link to something I can buy?

Make sure it's either Walmart link or Staples link. Just give me at least 3 choices to pick from. I need something real good so I can play Halo 1 and 2 online.

Also, how would I install this video card?

  • 05.18.2010 10:29 PM PDT

A 200 series card? Jeez.

Even my old laptop had a 9700, and ran Halo CE fine.

If you just want a card that'll run Halo, go to Staples, Future Shop or whatever and ask for their cheapest card.

Installing it is fairly simple Unplug the one you have now, and plug in the new one.

If you have never done it before, I wouldn't reccomend trying it.

Imo, he should do it. The first time I put in a new card was when I was putting in my 9800GTX+, and it's not that hard. Just don't force it and if it doesn't fit it doesn't go there.

e: This card is way more than enough.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

Dude, the Radeon XPress 200 is an integrated chipset on your motherboard. You need a dedicated graphics card. And frankly your CPU is pretty slow at this point too. First step is finding out IF your motherboard even has a dedicated graphics slot (AGP or PCI-E).

Do you do Disk Cleanups regularly?

If you have Windows Vista, right click on Disk Cleanup and click run as administrator. Then go to More options and find System Restore and Shadow Copies.

If you have Windows 7, just left click on Disk Cleanup and click clean up system files.

Make sure the price is descent :)

The computer's pretty nice, but the video card isn't gonna get you anywhere.

This is something that will last you a long time, but I'm worried that the i7 will overheat. :/

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

Don't get low end laptops from staples. Order a high end laptop and add the discrete video card option.

Also, here is a video card. It's not from staples, but staples is overpriced for video cards anyway:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168141028 76
It's $50 with rebate and it will fit in your small form factor PC.

I wish I was able to afford High End Laptops, and 1000$ laptops, but Im on a huge budget, and need something that has a nice video card, nice performance, and overall a GREAT pc for a low price.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

If your budget is strict, you aint gaming on a laptop.

It is good for gaming. Halo 2 and 1 will run maxed out, though halo 2 pc will lag due to the fact is buggy.
