I'm attempting to design a missile turret for the warthog that is based on the missile pod from Halo 3. I think this would create a more balanced weapon than the 3-shot rocket warthog (if it wasn't so inaccurate in the first place).

To design it, it would help a lot if Bungie had some schematic drawing or description of the components of the missile pod and how they worked.

Anyone know if Bungie has this information? Thanks in advance!

now, you can rip the models and textures from Halo 3 itself, go find it.

Are we allowed to? If so, how would I go about doing that?

Freedom has two parts: potential and resolution; as metaphors have two parts : form and interpretation; of course, the two are intertwined. Metaphor lines the road to freedom, as symbols and words are the bricks and mortar of meaning. Freedom being the briocoleus, the mason.

The rocket hog will shoot straight if you don't shoot the rockets in rapid succession.

I don't see how it is illegal, as long as you aren't doing anything with them that includes copyright claim or profit, although I have no idea how you would get your hands on an environment to even display such models/textures, as the tools and environments that developers use are often created themselves or are licensed commercially, which means you would need a license to use such an environment.

It is actually quite possible to rip (and get the textures in game, with only minimal quality loss), however, I've heard countless times that we are not allowed to. The rules may have changed, especially if Bungie has directly stated that we are allowed to...have they?

Nonetheless, I'm still working on my turret, first by creating my own, legitimate, non-ripped model (using textures from screenshots):

Though, the real bitmap files would be so much better (lighting and shader effects can distort the quality). Is there any way I can get a confirmation from Bungie regarding the matter of ripping Halo 3 content?

Bungie doesn't care.
Zteam, Detox, and maybe other modders, have made the programs nessesary to rip tags, textures etc.

just as they allow those modders to roam around on microsoft developer's xbox live service (partnernet)
