It seems that ODST has become forgotten over the past few months.
What with all the "ticket to the Reach Beta" business that went on recently, ODST seems to have slowly lost it's right to be a game in itself...It's starting to become seen as an expansion for Halo 3, or a gate to Reach...
Do you think it's time ODST got it's own moment of glory? I don't know about you, but there are painfully few firefight maps, which just makes the game feel dwarfed in comparison to Halo 3's Heroic, Legendary & two Mythic map packs.
There are plenty of opportunities to make effective firefight maps, too.
For example, take the campaign level, Kikowani Station - it has no firefight maps based off it. At all. Yet it has the ingredients to make an amazingly fun firefight game that could contain things like:
- Train station platforms
- Flooded train tracks
- Skyscrapers (complete with jackal snipers!)
- Engineers and Banshees
- A big highway
- and LOTS of water!
There could also be an opportunity to show us what the level would have looked like during the day, and weapons that haven't made it to the other firefight maps (like the assault rifle and flamethrower)
But that's just a single suggestion - I'm sure you can come up with better ideas for some more decent firefight maps - all the ones so far have had too much of an 'urban' feel to them in my opinion - Bungie could even steal a couple of maps from Halo 3 - it's all made on the same engine! :P
