Alright since I'm finally back on my PC (after a format) I'll explain it to you.
There are two types of connections to your motherboard. AGP and PCI. There are two types of connectors for the video card to monitor, DVI and VGA. These are STRICTLY for the connection of the video out to the monitor, nothing else.
The PCI and AGP bridges on the motherboard dictate the speed/kind of translation that is done from the mother board to video card. Completely DIFFERENT things, but entirely related.

By the way, every motherboard comes with AGP these days. It's the longer/white connection slot.
