Best line in the entire series. It shows how much he cares for Cortana, that even the strict indoctrination that's been battered into him from the age of six isn't enough to make him obey a superior office when ordered to hand over Cortana.

Almost wanted Palmer to try arrest him, so she could get put firmly on her arrogant arse.

I know, right? Knowing that the Chief is, let's say, by the book (see how he takes crap in The Flood), I found myself cheering at the screen when Captain Incompetence was boiling with anger and Chief, whilst towering over him, defied him as two of his fans were just watching, also disobeying the old man.

If Palmer tried to arrest MC that would totally secure her place as a Renegade femshep!

Per Audacia Ad Astra!

I was playing Halo 2 once and breaking some Convies in Legendary difficulty, when a marine while shooting just said to the ennemies :

I don't know who have attacked Reach, but sure it wasn't you guys !

This is one of the best dialog i've ever heard in a videogame by far...

ENOUGH! The flood is spreading. If we activate Halo's defenses, we can wipe them out.

When Del Rio told Palmer to arrest the Chief, she did an uneasy shift in her stance.

I thought that was awesome.

"Time was your ally human. But now it has abandoned you. The Forerunners....have returned. And this tomb... is now yours". - The Didact

"Lord of Admirals. So very many years have we battled.
My finest opponent, the Mantle accepts all who live fiercely, who defend their young, who build and struggle and grow, and even those who dominate - as humans have dominated; cruelly, without wisdom.
But for all of us, there is a time like this...And for you, that time is now. Know this, relentless enemy, killer of our children. Lord of Admirals. Soon we will face the enemy you have faced, and we are afraid." - The Didact

In this hour of victory, we taste only defeat. I ask "why?". We are forerunners, guardians of all that exists. The roots of the galaxy have grown deep under our careful tending. Where there is life, the wisdom of our accomplished generations has saturated the soil. Our strength is a luminous sun, towards which all intelligence blossoms, and the impervious shelter, beneath which it has prospered.

I stand before you, accused of the sin of ensuring forerunner ascendency. Of attempting to save us from this fate where we are forced to... recede. Humanity stands as the greatest threat in the galaxy, refusing to eradicate them as a fool's gambit. We squander aeons in the darkness while they seize our triumphs for their own. A mountain of responsibility for all things belongs to forerunners alone.

Think of my acts as you will. But do not doubt the reality; the reclamation has already begun. And we are hopeless to stop it." - The Didact

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

I really liked the intro vid of Halo 4, especially the part

"Do you believe Master Chief succeeded because he was, at his core, broken?"

Kind of has a double effect of raising the hair on my arms and making me think of answers to that question.

Something witty.

I quite enjoy the small, casual conversations that the Chief and Cortana exchange across the games. It really gives them both a 'human' side, and presents that they aren't simply faceless, alien killing machines, and that they like to joke around occasionally just like any other group of friends would.

Anyway, onto specifics:
"Sleep well?"
"No thanks to your driving, yes."
"So you did miss me.."

However, my favorite line technically isn't really a line. It's an outtake. But its sheer hilarity and randomness always manages to crack a smile.

"Next one who dies gets it in the rear from ME!"

Butt ugly ape” remarked Sergeant Johnson always making fun out of the situation even though he had been hit by a spiker round in the arm. He mustered up the strength to continue and the team moved on. The Arbiter informed him that the next room held The Prophet of Truth and this was the final room before extraction. Jun proposed that he takes a shot from a distance the prophet and they all head back to the ship bay for extraction. The team agreed on this and breached the last door…

The Didact is so quotable.

Just about everything he says is amazing, but I do find myself spontaneously reciting his introduction speech.

Lord of Admirals: 'If we warn them we give the Flood time to spread. You know we have no choice. Cleanse the planet'

Haven went with that scene so well.

Can we extend this to other media, like Forward Unto Dawn? That has some pretty cool quotes.

'Play it again, please' became pretty popular.

I loved Cortana's:

'I need to think'
'Thinking is what's killing you'

The amount of hatred filled within that line is overwhelming.
