How'd you find me?

This is my fourth (technically) story about Halo counting my comic and tales of a huragok. This one will also be first person and follow a Covenant species but will instead be about an elite pilot. Please comment! Originally I only posted this thread in my group's forum but what the hell, might as well post it here.

Chapters:

1. The Way OF The Warrior

2. Raining Down Heavenly Fire

1. The Way of The Warrior

My Seraph streaks through space, dropping plasma charges over the traitorous brute's ship. My brothers in arms streak in their fighters beside me, dropping their payloads as well. Longsword interceptors carry out similar tasks with us, bringing a hail of shells onto the shielded surface of the ship. What the humans classified as a Supercarrier was firing its powerful MAC Gun at the shield, completely depleting it. The massive cruiser was as good as dead, and as it entered its death throes the human Longswords and my brothers pull away from the cruiser. Another success.

Once our bitter enemies, the humans now are greatest allies in fighting the traitor Truth. Once our Seraphs shot the human Longswords out of the sky, now we fly side by side in formation. If not for the discovery of the Infection and the new arbiter, we'd still be at war with the humans. Now, after learning the truth of the Great Journey and the Hierarchs' betrayal, humans are now our respected equals.

Changing course to return to our ship, I took a chance look to the planet below me. Dosiac, the once beautiful home of the brutes, was ravaged by war. The surface had been bombarded by plasma from my fleet's many ships. Hanging low in the planet's atmosphere was a Covenant Assault Carrier. Even from my high perch among the stars I could see phantoms pouring out of the ship like blood gushing from a newly opened wound. The sight of the war ship saddened me, but I knew that all of this was necessary. The brutes, traitors and bastards, everyone, had not accepted the terms of surrender and even attacked the delegation that the humans and we had sent. I was on the carrier that was sent in the delegation, and had helped board and secures the brute's cruiser. That was the first of many events that plunged my brothers and the humans into war with the brutes.

Looking down at their home world now, though, I resent this war. I am tired of the raids, the attacks, and the loss of my brothers in combat. Even if they died with honor, their deaths were senseless. Why must we remain in this war? Why can't their be peace? I do not know if I will find the answer in my lifetime.

"That was great work back there, Shar." I instantly recognized the voice; it belonged to Petty Officer Amy, a female Longsword pilot. We share command of my squad, consisting of both humans and Sanghelli; the newly formed USSC, or United Species Space Command, thought it would be best if command of navy squads were split between a Sanghelli and a human. It worked very well; the combined input of two competent leaders of both has lead to many victories in space and on the ground.

"Thank you," I replied as I used my Seraph's heavy plasma cannon to destroy a brute fighter. Just because I didn't believe in the war didn't mean wouldn't fight for my kin.

"Shar, we have new orders." One of the pilots under my command spoke into the communications link, causing my attention to shift away from the battle for a short moment.

"And they are?"

"We're to return to the Carrier and man some banshees. We're going to join the battle on the surface."

So it was time to fight the traitors on the ground. I quickly explained our new orders to Amy, and she and her fellow Longswords returned to their ships. We were ready for a new battle.

*****

My Banshee weaved and danced through the rain forest canopy. Enemy banshees and vampires dropped to the forest floor like stones, completely destroyed by our banshees and the human's hornets. Phantoms and pelicans glided slowly past us and descended into the lower levels of the rainforest canopy. The entire reason we were sent to the surface was to allow the pelicans and phantoms to land on the planet. Most of the brute's fleet had been crippled, so now it was a ground based assault. Scarabs, vultures, infantry, all forms of military forces were being sent down to end the war with the brutes. All had been risked for this final, crippling attack on the brutes.

Gods help them.

An assassin will always carry on, even after death.

I like it too. Good new story.

AL is preventing me from having fun. It is also preventing a lot of people from having fun. People who defend AL say they can live without it. It is obviously unfair in many ways.

SO WHY DON'T WE REMOVE/TWEAK IT?

Also, yes, I do goose.

Great start. Keep making chapters!

How'd you find me?

Part two, part two! Oh what to do, part twoooooo! This chapter will have me introduce another character, Teteb the grunt. So without further ado, part two!

Part 2. Raining Down Heavenly Fire

As my brothers flew through the tree line in tight clusters, we received new orders. It seemed that the brutes were excavating some sort of Forerunner artifact close to our location. We were tasked with destroying the scarabs being used for the dig and escorting a transport that was carrying a special team that studied the holy relics.

This fight was less a siege and more total slaughter.

As we changed course to rendezvous with the transport, I noticed something on the ground. A phantom had crashed into the dense rain forest floor. Smoke snaked into the sky from the crash site, creating a dense fog, though the craft was more than likely still flyable. Scanning the area around the phantom, I saw a shocking scene. A small squad of five unggoy was holding a pack of fifteen brutes at bay using only needlers, plasma pistols, and one functioning plasma turret. Studying the battle more carefully, I realized the grunts were winning! I knew that I should help the courageous creatures in their battle. I quickly relayed this to my squad mates.

"Stay in formation. I must go."

"What are you talking about, Shar?" Amy's voice came onto the comm. channel.

"There are grunts trapped on the forest floor. They are fighting against a pack of brutes, and though they appear to be winning, I think it would be best to evacuate them using the nearby crashed phantom. Assistance is not required."

"We have a duty, brother. We cannot chase after grunts in the forest. We must destroy those scarabs and escort the transport." This time it was Zin who spoke. Zin and I had grown up together on Sanghelios and we were like brothers to each other. We both joined the military at the same time and went through flight training together. Zin was the closest thing to family I had. So he would understand my decision.

"Zin, the unggoy are allies just as much as the humans are," I spoke into the comm. channel as I began to maneuver my banshee to the rain forest floor. "It would be wrong not to help them."

Zin sighed. He knew I had made my decision. "Try not to kill yourself, Shar." Zin cut the comm. link as my banshee entered the thick rain forest canopy.

*****

Bolts of hot plasma flashed through the air. Slow moving spikes and fast moving explosives flew through the air. The best I could do to not be killed in the crossfire was to jump out of my banshee, hang on to the back, and use it for cover before crashing to the ground. The second before my banshee crashed, I jumped off and rolled away towards the grunts behind me. The banshee began to roll and smashed into the closest brute, knocking down its shields and killing it. The banshee continued to roll, and it knocked down two more brutes, crushing their skulls. Finally, when the banshee smashed into a tree and stopped moving, only twelve more brutes were left. I made quick work of them using my plasma repeater and the unggoy's assistance.

Soon, I coaxed the unggoy into the damaged phantom and I began to run diagnostics. Only the plasma turret on the nose of the drop ship and the turret on the left still worked. Though one side of the phantom was badly mangled, it would still fly. I warmed up the ships engines and we escaped the floor of the dense jungle and began to rise into the skies above.

As I piloted the ship towards my squadron, an unggoy entered the cockpit with me. I looked up at him for merely a second before looking back out towards the sky.

"And who might you be?" I said, noting with interest his armor witch marked him as an unggoy ultra.

"My name is Teteb. I am very grateful that you saved me and my soldiers. I am indebted to you."

"Thank you, Teteb." I continued to stare out at the sky.

"May I ask your name?" Teteb was seemed inquisitive and bright for an unggoy.

"It is Shar."

"Thank you for your help...Shar," And with that, Teteb left the cockpit.

How'd you find me?

Well, in Halo: The Flood, they talked normal, so might as well have them talk normal here too.
