Does anyone know if Halo 2 will be user-controlled in terms of servers, or will Microsoft/Bungie provide the hardware in a virtual environment. This of course would be important because I need to know if I need to purchase another Xbox.

If you mean, can you start your own servers? then probably not, because the reason you pay for xbox live is to use their servers.

Official word is that if a host goes down or leave the game, the server is transferred to one of the peers who will then host it... So I'd say you can spare your money and use only the XBOX you already have.

Obviously you haven't played any games on live dude:) Halo 2 might be differrent, but up until now most games have had little to no servers from the game maker or microsoft.Which really sucks cause we pay them money so we can play on our own boxes ? Weak!

I am sure MS will get a bunch of servers going for Halo 2 for a long time. I would get they will be running at full speed till after the holiday season.

Not entirely true. You also pay to use the service to play online with your XBox.
