Honestly, the Pelican is way too slow and could get shot down too easily.

i thought i heard sumptin about main player, being able to fly or get in the driver seat of one of those...... but it would be really really cool to be able to use one of those for traspertation.

I used to agree with this, but now i don't, thats what the Warthog with the roll cage and extra seats in the back is for, I disagree it would be a bad addition, but if it were optional, then that would be different, i would like it if it were optional. And also every vehicle should be optional, not just only ghost only warthogs only scorpion or all, you should have an option for each one whether you want it on or off.

the pelican would not be too slow and anyway it has a big gunner seat in the back so it could hold its own against loads of things. if you were four people against bots then you could transport all your team mates to a new area for cover

With a good pilot, I think the Pelican would work out just fine in multiplayer. The pelican isn't a longsword jet, but I wouldn't call it slow, just big. The size of the Pelican would only keep you from going to the enemy position head on, but there are always ways around firefights. I think the Pelican would be a great addition to gameplay with a good pilot.

i disagree because the pelican is only good for the multi player levels that are huge like blood gulg eit would take up a lot of room and where would i be parked? how would it defend its self? think about it you butt heads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Arko, thanks for the laugh, I haven't heard butt head in a while. Anyway, I think it would be increadibly obvious you'd only use the Pelican on very large maps, because you only use vehicles on very large maps. Bloodgultch sized maps would be a bit constrained for a pelican, but things along the scale of Death Island or Infinity for Halo PC would be perfect for a pelican where foot-travel just isn't practical and there is plenty of places for the Pelican to fly around to avoid drawing enemy fire and get close to the enemy base. As for parking, you can land it anywhere you don't think it'll be stolen and unload your allies anywhere they can set their feet. Finally, for defense the pelican has a chin gun and a rear-mounted turret that a passenger can man. Pelicans wouldn't hold up very well in a dogfight, but that's not the idea. An escort would cover a pelican well enough and the pelican itself could handle smaller ground units with its own guns.

There you have it. The pelican would be perfectly useful on larger maps.

not necessarily, pelicans should have atleast decent armor and be only really vulnerable to the main anti-air weapons like the LAAG and rockets. What I've been stressing in every single post I make though, is that pelicans should be kept away from areas where they'd get shot down. If you fly in a straight line towards a guy with a rocket, then you deserve to get shot down. Same as banshees, they aren't super tough, but the idea is to stay out of range or away from AntiAir weaponry. A decent pilot would keep his distance from warthogs or whatever and could drop off his payload without being noticed and shot down.

That could be quite useful and who knows the pelican might have weapons and could also be used as a decoy so only one life would be wasted not like 6 or whatever.

Exactly Mike. Flying an empty pelican behind or around an enemy base would draw a lot of attention over there because the enemy would think "oh son of a b****! Now there's going to be 6 of 'em coming to mass attack the base!" and try to get whatever help they could. In turn, your allies could sneak into the front door with little opposition because the others would be watching the back.

as I mentioned in the Ultimate Mplayer thread... I'd like to see respawns via pelicans (reinforcement style) on the larger maps... (for team games only) don't know about flyng them in Mplayer... maybe a human equivelent of the Banshee (a possible inclusion) might be a two seater...

It has already been stated that we will NOT be able to pilot the Pelican in Halo 2.

This will solve the bots and pelican problem. What you have is a base high up in the sky where no guns could shoot you but if you say halo 2 is going to have banshees and other planes then you die this is where bots come in handy you might have them in chain guns or with a rocket launcher then you would be protected. If you get your pelican killed you get another 1 flown in straight away and if your killed you start at the base in the structure and wait until the pelican comes back.Ive always had this idea people say the pelican is to big and holds 10 people have a FINCH a small pelican that holds 6 and 1 pilot and 1 gunner in the back.

No they won't. As to the other thing, it's pointless to debate it because it's not going to happen.
