Mods on power trips crack me up.

Why cant bungie admit they got Halo PC very badly wrong and left it to rot?

Xbox360 is a great console, but there isn't anything specific I want on it. Morrowind although going on X360 is already going on PC as well. Prey, same thing with it. No point in buying ANOTHER $300 dollars for it since I already have a gaming computer that is a year old but still kicks all the other consoles out.

Yes caboose, now go read my title of the thread and come back again.

Besides of which, Im sure many maw members dont visit the flod like me, and Im sure its going to bring some sort of halo pc discussion....

For example, is it going to make the numbers of the already dwindling haloPC population drop even further when released?

I reckon you should be a mod, your just like a mini hitler.

mini hitler, would like a eggo? How about some cereal?

$300 US, eh? After rebates, thats about what it'd cost to build my sister a sytem (not a great PC mind you, but she only needs something for internet browsing and writing her papers for school). Oh. wait. No. Still have to buy the monitor...

Oh. Wait. No. Xbox 360 doesn't come with a television either (insert sarcastic chuckle here ___) and I can grab her a refurb PCI card that'll run off her television (nice little flat screen tube)...

Four years old? Go ahead and start buying a new Mboard to work off of. Swap what you cdan out of your old PC into the new one and just buy stuff piecemeal.

Just...don't register your copy of Windows if your doing a home built...if you change the configuartion of your system too much (i.e. replace the MBoard or buy better, faster hard drives) Windows pitches fits and you'll have to install a new Windows OS on your "new" computer. (that tip may be "illegal", but since I'm not telling you how, it shouldn't be. Someone give me a heads up so i can remove it if it is)

Better still, go with Linspire, a Linux OS built to look and be used like Windows (easier than Windows most of the time too). You can put that on as many computers as you want and it's a lot more stable.

$soft is going to relaese two packages between The second week in November and CHristmas(or holiday season which ever u prefer u politicly correct people.)The first package will be about $299.99 and it WILL NOT have a wireless controller, or hard drive :(. The second one will be about $100 more for a hard drive, wireless controler, Xbox live wireless headset, i dont know about u but a hard drive is not wirth about $100. Correct me if i am wrong but i think a 200g hard drive is out for about $100. $soft also put another part of there chunk at Fort Knox in the 360 for total back wards compatibiltiy.
Oh and i dont think the 360 will replace my pc but there is a lot of games not on the PC but for the consoles.

Oblivion is coming to PC...

That's the only game that seems remotely appealing that would be on the opening 360 lineup. And it's for PC as well.

Another game that could be worth something is Saint's Row. It's basically GTA but on steroids. That one might be worth watching.

Backwards compatibility requires a patch. Not all games will be backward compatible, only the more popular ones Even at that, they'll release patches and fixes to play older games as they work on them.

I've gotta side with B. The 360 is overpriced for what you'll get at launch - a few games and the barebones package...

Backwards compatibility WILL NOT require a patch, $soft just spent a sh1t load of money on so that the fans wont have to pay for the service to get the patches.
2nd what about the people that dont have high speed, what r they going to do about it??? HUH? HUH? HUH? Thats what i thought.

A more expensive version costing $399 (£279) will include a 20GB hard drive, wireless controller, headset and remote control.

So whats the first version for? You can't play anything without a controller or memory. Than the working version of the Xbox costs $399 and about $460 with taxes? If anyone remembers when the first PlayStation came out, it cost that much. And it was the first actually good console that and the first one to read off of CD's! A wireless controller? I just want a normal one that doesn't cost twice as much! A headset? Who says I'm getting Live, you allready took away one months salary! What the -blam-- do I need a remote for, I allready have a DVD player and the Xbox controller works fine as a remote. I bet they'll sell all the cables seperately and they both will cost like 10 dollars.

I'm sorry, but Microsoft, this is all I can say to you: RIP OFF!

Hey, wadayaknow! I can get that monitor after all!

um...this may be a misread on my part. But it looks like your asking why people would want a PC when they can play Xbox on low speed internet.

To that: slowest speed for HPC internet connections is 56k. I'm not thrilled when someone in Australia joins the game with a 56k connection, but he does have that option.

XBL...can't say that.

this is wat i heard......... controllers are wireless but if ur battery wears out u can recharge it but in the mean time put a cord on it (basic pack will be $300) and the bigger pack wiill have a bigger harddrive, a remote for multimedia, and an extra controller, maybe a headset maybe a camera (kinda a web cam) and that will cost.... guess..........................$360 whered they get that random price? but it sounds sweeet...im gettin the $360 pack and hell yea it will replace my computer!!!!!

and to minus sign: i dunno if u've ever played xbl or not but it is not low speed...it runs a hell of a lot smoother than pc unless u have a $1,000 p4 pc but i dunno bout the rest of u guys but my comp definatly isnt top the line so im gettin the 360 its gonna be awesomeeeeeeee

editing the post (i do that a lot) and saw the reply so:

Gee. thought I was clear. Well, I'll be blunt:

Yes XBL is not slow speed. that was my point. It's high speed internet required. So what about all those people out there who don't have high speed internet (56k dial up) or access to XBL at their house in the first (edited) place? i live in the country, get my telephone and DSL service through a farmer's coop. You think I have access to XBL here?

Come on people. Rip off? No.

Overpowered? Before it's time? A good deal? Perhaps.

Three dual core 3.2GHz Processors with 1 MB L2 cache. Half a gig od 700MHz GDDR3. 22.4 GB/sec memory bandwidth. As I understand it, it actually comes with the 20 GB Hard Drive, which, depending on the buffer, interface, and drive speed may well be worth about $50 or $60. Wi-Fi ready (Wirelss-g compatible). It has enough features that it is actually extremely comparable to a PC. Match that with the fact that you'll need no antivirus or spyware removal; you won't have a blue screen of death or system crashes; that everything will work - just like consoles always have;

Join that to the fact that, if you take into account inflaction, it costs less that what the original NES did and it's not a rip off.

It may not be right for you or your situation, but I believe M$ did a good job creating a good console - they'll simply have to forgive me for not buying it or hire a shrink to help them cope with their hurt feelings.

Yo people,

£300 for a XBOX 360, that is what you call over priced, that is rediculous, and PC's are my thing, not consoles. I mean £300 ! That is a lot of money for a console. This is the advantage of a PC. The PC software is always getting better and better every half a year nearly, and with a console, you'll be stuck with that grade of performance for a while. It would be out.... another 5 years till the new xbox, dont go there girlfriend.

Spartan 012.

P.S : Caboose, you really need to know your stuff mate, seriously. You dont deserve to be with the Legends of "The Maw"

not to be rude or anything, but i thought it was actually a triple core processor, with hyper-threading like technology on each core, not 3 dual core processors.
