About 10 minutes ago my computer did something wierd. It wasnt showing anything on screen. I cleared the cmos and after a few tries it displayed everything. But then my motherboard read my cpu as a AMD +1800 which wad running at 1.5 gigs instead of a +2400 which was running at 2 gigs before i had to clear the cmos. Will the motherboard get refreshed and detect the cpu as a +2400? or will keep saying +1800.

When you clear the CMOS, your computer usually defaults to certain BIOS settings. You probably just have to enter Setup when your computer starts and adjust a few settings, such as your clock speed/multiplier. I'd be more worried about why my CMOS just randomly got corrupted if I were you (or if that was even the root problem). O_o;

actually when i first built my computer my pc detected the cpu as +1800 but after a while it changed to +2400 without configuring anything on the bios. i was just wondering what could have caused my pc to read my cpu correctly. Im sure my computer will change it. Its done it once im sure it will do it again.

i fixed this problem. I went into the bios and changed the host clock to 133 mhz from 100 and now its running at regular speed of 2 gigs at 2400
