My story is that my friend bought an X-Box, I bought a Game Cube. Thought it would be fun to have two different systems to play-on. Well, he just kept on going on and on about Halo, so I went over their we started Campaign mode at 11PM went to bed, 9AM. Suffice to say I was hooked. I traded in my GC plus a few games for a used x-box and Halo. The rest as they say, is history. I was just wondering how and when you lot got into it?

You'd think, after being a member for two months, you would know which forum to post this in.

my mom just took every game off the shelves at the company store, and i got to choose which game of 3 games after i wrote my letters to get into lakeside and stuff. the games were oddworld, azurik, and halo. this one was hard, i couldn't decide and im not being sarcastic i didn't know how good halo was, so i was like "might as well get a shooter!" so i got halo. boy was that the right desision!

It was November 15th. I had just back from deer hunting and still had the smell of bloodied carcass on my camoflauge. I went over to my friend's house telling about my recent kill. We were happy and chatted for an hour.

Then the topic of video games came into play. I bragged about how I was getting a Game Cube and how his PS2 couldn't stand a chance (I ate those words just a few months back from today and enjoyed the flavor mind you). Well we then had the bright idea on how to get him a new system.

You see his parents were getting in a divorce, which meant mommy would spend money up the ass to buy him over to her side. Well he talked about how it will be cool and all. She was barely convinced, but then he threatened to go to dad more or less.

She then threw us in the car and drove to the mall. Along the way she spouted how this was his Christmas gifts for the year (didn't turn out that way), and then he bought an Xbox. With it he grabbed three controllers, the Xbox itself, Dead or Alive 3, some flight game that was a launch title, and Halo.

We ran back to his place and set the system up and I told him to put in Halo. He shook his head, turned away to grab another game, and I had already put it in. He scowled and then we watched the opening sequence on Normal mode. He was hooked then and so was I, well I was hooked on a lower level because I had to leave for dinner (cursed parents).

The funny thing is before the Xbox launched I said that Halo would be the only game that would save the system. He disagreed until a day before launch, even then he was hesitant to get the game. He thought it looked like a rip-off of Red Faction, his precious "Pre-Halo." I came back later and we beat the game together on Co-op.....343 Guilty Spark (the level) took us damn near forever to beat. Couldn't find the broken ledge to jump up on. I think it was an hour search to find our way out.

However that was only part one of my getting hooked. That's right, my story is not complete. It wasn't until later when the Fall of Reach came out. He noticed it before I and read it twice before he loaned it to me. I read the book having a general understanding of the Covenant from the game. That book changed my life.

I read the thing in a day and the following day I drove to the Credit Union and took out $400. Bought Halo and an Xbox as well as two extra controllers. For three months I played the game and got to my peak. No one could beat me and if it was a true sniper match (aka, no camping) I would win without a single death. However this skill was fueled by the fact my friend would always kick my ass in the game and pent up rage forced me to become a better player...I think I failed/ nearly failed four classes those three months.

So it was the prequel to Halo combined with my rage and the awesomeness of the game itself that got me hooked. And the addiction continues today.

I never heard of halo until a few days before I got my xbox for my B-day. I went to my freinds house and his next door neibor come over with his xbox and halo was one of the games. 4 of us on multiplayer alone got me hooked on halo. Then a few days after getting my xbox, halo entered my collection of xbox games!

Sorry about it being the wrong forum, I just simply didn't think. I also thought people could use a break from Aug.24th and ILB and actually remember why we're on her in the first place. My mistake however, sorry.

I've always been wanting to tell my story. Here it is. I was one of those PS2 fans and when Xbox was coming out, I didn't like it. My friend would always tell me of these games for Xbox (including Halo) that were fun (he didn't have one), but I didn't really care. Last year I was at gametrailers.com and I saw a Halo 2 video (back then I had dial-up). So I was like, what the hell, and clicked on it. It was the E3 2003 video. It took hours just to get the first 2 minutes! But after seeing a lot of that I was like holy -blam!-, this game looks awsome. I told my friend about it and he'd played Halo and loved it, so he wanted to see it. So, after a week or so of wanting to play Halo really bad, another one of my friends came over and brought Halo. He stayed for 2 days, and we played a total of 19-22 hours. So, then I asked my Mom for an Xbox and Halo, and I got it. I've rarely played PS2 since, and I play Halo all the time (I'm so sick of it because my nephew loves it so I have to play, also, he is stoked about Halo 2). I've never, never in my life, have been soo obsessed and excited with something, especially a game: Halo 2. So when Halo 2 comes out, my friend and I are playing Co-op. Then I'll still play Co-op with my nephew, who's 5 years old, and I'll be playing it for the rest of my life. I will most likely not be able to play Single Player till after December!

sometime in january 03, a few days after christmas my best friend had gotten an xbox i said ps2 was so mutch better and the xbox was for losers(i am now a loser i guess). so i invited him to my house to show him a couple of the games
i had gotten as presents, so we played them for a while and he said he had brought his xbox over. i laughed and said why. but damn once he opened
his duffle bag and the most beutiful thing i had ever seen came into view.
in all its majesty black no dust and 2 brand new controllers. and laid on
top was a copy of halo. so we plugged her in, put in the controllers
(he gave me some huge piece of sh.it controller). we then put in halo
it was strange i had never seen a game with the system link option at the time.
so we played TPoA and we were hooked didnt put the controllers down until..... the flood. dear god i almost soiled myself. we stopped took
a break and then checked out this thing called split screen. we got
an idea for a rokets only game. i think that was the longest amount of time
i continuelsy laughed and cried. good times, good times.

who would think 2 years later i would still have the same amount
of excitment as i did back then, and soon even more 11/9/04.

During one school year, whenever i would talk to my friends about games, they would always be like biatch get Halo! I had played a demo of it at EB years ago and i didn't like it (i didn't have an xbox). After about one semester of them pestering me, I went out and bought it...since then it has become my favorite game of all time.

the end
