What are they, they can't be their main plasma cannons yet they are plasma.

Huh?????????????

At the end of the first level, Cortana says Keyes is taking the ship in manually and you see all these blue things hit the Pillar or Autumn.

but it couldn't have been the main cannons, those would do a lot more damage to the ship than what was striking the Autumn.

I would imagine rendering something like that would take a lot and Halo only looks good, the gameplay is awesome though.

They are getting hit by some kind of plasma weapon. No clue, email bungie, they might tell u

Yeah, it's a Plama Torpedo. Also, Keyes takes an Escape Pod to the surface!!! He has Cortana's redneck cousin drive the ship!!

What's the difference between those plasma torpedoes and the ones that are supposed to be able to own a human ship in one hit?

All I remember from the books are the pulse laser batteries, plasma torpedoes that came off as more powerful than what struck the Autumn, and energy projectors.

plasma that disables a ship.

Why would the covenant want to disable a ship? How can you use plasma to disable a ship?

I'll be on my own side.

Not plasma torpedoes. those are red, and those are indeed the same ones they use for planetary bombardment. my guess would be pulse lasers. thats the closest thing to those blasts in the known Covenant warship arsenal.

possibly energy projector beams, seeing that the beams fit the description, but then again, the PoA wouldnt have survived all those blasts.

The Fall of Reach stated that the Pillar of Autumn had a tougher frame then most ships, so it's possible it could have survived. It was also outfitted with more armor before it left Reach as part of the mission, which it never completed until after Halo.

Yeah, but in Halo: The Flood it said that the Covenant didn't want to use damgerous weapons against the PoA, because it might damage the Halo. So, if the Plamsa Torpedos are used for Planantary Bombardment, why would they use them on the Autumn? Talk about big explosions.

I borrowed the book from a friend and yes it did say that they didn't want to use the big guns on the ship for fear of damaging the ring, but I was also missing pages 20-60 in the book so I don't know what happened.

Also in the Halo: The Flood, Captain Keyes is thinking to himself, he said it was a new weapon "Just another weapon in their bottomless arsenal, Captain Jacob Keyes thought. Not a plasma torpedo, or we'd already be free-floating molecules." (page 11, second paragraph)

Maybe not a Plasma Torpedo, alright. Whoever has proof is correct. And I also agree with the person who just said that it may just be the usual ship to ship pulse battery.
