Mods on power trips crack me up.

Why cant bungie admit they got Halo PC very badly wrong and left it to rot?

Hm...that's been happening to me as well, more and more often now. I have no clue. I think its a glitch in Halo's multiplayer, or perhaps with the connection.

try cleaning your fans and heatsinkc if you get that sort of problem. overheating can, in some cases, cause your computer to freeze. but if it works now, that's probably not the problem

people, the problem is not your hardware. i've been hearing alot about this, and i suspect it's bungie. i suggest we tell them so that they can fix it. it's happened to me quite often, along with a plethora of other problems, so maybe something on their end is just corrupted.

(IAMWHIE, the problem was with the internet connection or with the haloce files........ what the hell does that have to do with the fan? think before posting)

1: HCE was never specified.

2: overheating can cause freezes, so for an older PC, that is a possible repair.

But you do raise one valid point. What servers are you running when this happens. it could be a partial problem between you and the server; the PC game tries to load a map that is only partially sent. If it's happeneing only on sertain servers, that could (and that's a really big "could") be the problem. Give it a few minutes and wait for the server conection to time out.

I seriously doubt that's the problem (sounds like a reinstal is the option if canned air to the fans and heatsink soen't fix it) but there's many a slip twixt a cup and a lip.

Oh, god, not Saboteur again.

Haven't you caused enough trouble?

Besides, like Minus said, only one out of the four points you made were right.

Good job.

Mr B, it could be spyware. You should run a scan just to be sure.

And a problem I have is that my multiplayer games keep dropping out. And when I'm on Bungie.net, I can't view posts with more than about 20 replies. It's probably because of my #@#!@#@!$^ 56k dialup connection. Man, I need a better connection.

P.S. And Bungie.net needs to pay more attention to the Halo PC crowd.

Good point, and another chance for me to pimp out Ad-aware which can be found at http://www.lavasoftusa.com. No. I don't work for them; I just love the beating stick they gave me to fend off malware.

Have you installed anything new recently? Even if it's not Halo PC/CE related, if your computer is stretched by halo and you add another "background" .exe program to the mix, you may just be breaking it's back.

Go into taskmanager and see what programs you can shut off while you run Halo. If you want to know which ones you can live without, go to http://www.liutilities.com and type in the .exe name you see in taskmanager (example: vmnat.exe for VMware).

Thanks for the props me15ter. I've had a really cruddy day and needed the pick me up.

i get the freezes sometimes, and i rarely leave the bungie-ctf and bungie-teams servers. What i did was set my power button so that my pc goes into standby mode when i press it and turns off when i hold it down. you can change this setting under power properties in windows. whenever the game freezes, i just hit the power button and go into standby. i make my pc "wake up" right after it goes to sleep, and then i can use the task manager to exit halo and then get back to the teamkilling chaos.
