I'm going to tell you a little about the internet now. The internet is nothing more than computers all over the world talking to each other. Now the original idea is that a "web" is created, should you lose part of the web, even a very large part of it, any computer still online can still talk to any other still online, being a web and not a line if you lose a chunk another route is found. This is achieved by each computer asking the next, can you connect me to this guy?
Now if you have 4 xbox's connected via LAN and you all join a firefight game in the XBL lobby (The same game). Upon starting the game the host xbox and client xboxes will find the shortest route to each other. This is directly through the router in your home, so you will experience a LAN connection but still be eligible for XBL achievements.
