I like the system that gets rid of modders and other cheaters, but if your system is so good, how come every day im playing level 31 and up modders, dont you think at least one person would have reported him for cheating or at least put a lot of negitive feed back that you could have checked and banned his ASS for life so he could never use that account again? Im not wining about it, its just that about 5 out of 8 games i play on matchmaking is cheating invovled, whether its modding or stand-bying. I would like this game a lot more if the experience i had online was funner without cheaters. Also if these keeps happening whats to stop people eventually from modding xbox 360 and when halo 3 comes out what are u gann do to stop modding that actualy works?

You, need to crack down on people with action replay. It really ruins matchmaking when people do it.

Rather than allowing people to justify using a mod in MM or not. Simply create a match that is for modders only. Then if any modder that appears in the non-modding playlist, simply ban their IP entirely. Your conscience would be clear. You gave the people who for what ever reason like to cheat an out, and they CHOOSE not to take. Decision made, thank you for playing Halo 2, you are no longer welcome.

I understand that Bungie/MS/XBoxlive are trying to deter modding and your efforts are warranted. But unfortunately Mod culture is here and has been back since Doom on the PC. People like altering the reality of a quality product, you are not ever going to end it. But if you give modders and out and the don't take it, they can not argue your decision to ban them.

I hate modding and stand-bying as much as the next person, hell when I see it happening on a team that I get paired up with, I attack my own team and let the other team know that I am helping them. It actually worked two days ago, the people stand-bying actually quit and the non-cheating team won. I digress....

End of the day Halo 2 is a great product/game, and I appreciate the efforts bungie is going to to make it better for the 90% of the players that truly just want a good game experience. But I do think a justified hard line is necessary. Read any of the post of people supporting modding and you can tell by the general lack of spelling that you are dealing with a 8 - 12 year old, you send a letter to their parents making THEM aware that the account they bought for their child is being banned for illegally altering their gaming system AS WELL AS altering the online experience for other users by cheating and I'm sure things will change.

Good Luck

Modders really ruin the online experience and I am glad to see there is no tolerance for them. Hopefully some day there will be a way to prevent modding. It has ruined many online games. Show modders no mercy! I think modders should be fined if possible.

I do that sometimes too. I don't like losing my level, but I don't like modders either.

I say come out with Halo 3 so they would have to start from scratch with the 360 and make the Halo 3 Disk with something (I don’t know your guys are smart make something) that when the game is used other than the obvious way it will not work (Like the Brown Sugar CD wont let you copy the CD a program runs Instead of the usual media player) im no fr kin comp genius or and English major but you guys are smart you did make halo the great game it is today!!!! Good Luck

PS does the feedback actually do something??? I never noticed it did

i couldnt write a regular post so heres on i am a modder but im not the one u guys see playing matchmaking and boosting people because thats -blam!- im one of those modders u guys see in custom games playing fun mods like building houses on containment with the ramps or spamming in elongation... ITS FUN!!1
most people that have played with modders would say that
i dont do stupid stuff like go in mm
im a friendly modder i do fun stuff for others its not right to ban the modders like me who just want to enhance game play for others and our selfs in only custom games
im just saying that and if any one wants to see that im right about this u can come to my game som time i dont do match making i quit it way before i started modding
who knows if u bungie people want i know a lot of modders that do match making i could make a list plus i know how to find them easily
peace out

o and my gt is jeremyy
... PLZ DONT BAN ME IM A FUN MODDER U CAN ASK ANY ONE ON MY FRIENDS LIST
and by ban i mean from custom games i hate matchmaking

Bungie has every right. Unless your contracted by bungie to modify their content, then you have no buisness doing so. Not to mention it's technically illegal. Since there is no way to find out whose the "good modders" and "bad modders", bungie has no choice but to ban all modded content. It's all fair. Just think, maybe bungies sitting there saying it's just not fair these people keep modifying our work.

there is a way to see "good modders" from "bad modders"

if bungie sent a spy or somthing onto xbl played a little bit of match making or somthing
and found a modder or joins a clan and plays custom games

like make up a name like....... um
somthing u might see on halo 2 like coolkid 345
or something who ever that is can stay secret and play around on halo 2 to find out bad modders who ever it is if they want send me a friend request and i could bring them to parties to find bad or good modders

its a pretty good plan if anyone would volunteer from bungie to do it i know plenty of "bad modders" who do dumb stuff like spawn kill in match making
o and if u guys really want to see im not a "bad modder" come to my party sometime send a friend request and in it say u came from bungie.net so i know.

GAMERTAG = jeremyy

Thats pretty impractical. It would be much better if there was some scanning program that scanned for stats. That way if some dude has 50 kills and his opposing team has no life he obviously spawn killed them. Bottom line is they dont want people to modify their stuff. Now don't get me wrong i have no problem with modders its the cheaters that i have a problem with, especially the cheaters who use mods. This is why i like unreal tournament so much, you had the power to manipulate the game to your liking. The only bad thing that came form it was a few cheats that were easily handled because ut ran on servers and most of the servers that were worth playing on had the patches to stop the cheating.

there are a lot more because when some modders well mod other people ask them how to and most of them tell thats kind of how i learned and people ask me every day how to mod i ask tthem for mm or for custom games. they usally say mm and then i dont tell them but even if they say custom games i still say no because too many modders does ruin game play but if theres one per party thats pretty good. and the scanning idea is pretty good but it can back fire. ike if lets say a non modder and his party were doing glitches and he maybe got like 200 kills and no one else got close that couuld mean glitching too the best way is for bungie to make somthing that they can observe partys like when u die u can see someone else in a custom game it should be like that then they would find good from bad easily. plus i think my idea earlier is a good idea but i dont think that bungie person could be on all the time or anytime im on.

o and plus another idea is that they can monitor the game like in unreal tournament as u kind of said earlier.
like for example if u look into some of the games i played online with my account ( jeremyy )
most games every one gets negative score not cause they kill them selves but other people make them do it. like look into the games i play on elongation i have a mod there that not a spawn killer mod but every one does spawn in one spot. it does not mean i kill them every time they spawn because no weapons are that powerful like right now my mod for elong that i made is pp shoots hogs charged shoots wraith and rockets shoot tanks. i dont mean the gun from the vehicle i mean whole vehicle. and i have one gun i wouldnt call a killer but a helper its the plasma rifle blue its super strong at shooting things away not at killing them like the force is high but not attack power and every one can see and use every thing in it they think its fun to kill a teammate by dropping a warthog on there head and so do i its pretty much fare that way and i think if any one sees a modder in match making use the report thing and bungie should monitor the person they put down for cheating and either ban ip orgo into his xbox and take of programs

Well the program would scan for more than just kills. It would look at everything kills, life span, headshots. Also if someone found a glitch that aloud them to get 200 kills and not die i would consider it cheating.

The reason hiring people would be impractical is because there are so many games going on at one time. You'd need some type of moderator in each and every game. I play from 6 to 10 eastern time everyday after work and i've only ran into 2 modders, that i know of.

The banhammer that is used now kicks or bans people for no reason at times. But those people are very few compared to the amount of cheaters that it bans, i guess they coul dbe considered collateral damage.

but how does the scan tell apart people that might be doing it for fun and like spamming in a game and it accidently killed someone like 200 times and the people really doing it if u took a moderator sure its impractical it might take less time but it finds the right and wrong modders heck i bet a modder even works for bungie to do that as we speak

you'd set it to disreguard customs. Like i said it takes everything into consideration someones not going to spam and get 50 kills in 30 second while the other team has 0 life... think about it.
