Wouldn't it be easier to prevent modders from entering match made games in the first place? Modders in match making are cheaters. In custom games, I choose who I play with/against so I have a way out and I can do my own policing. In Match Making, the system chooses that for me. In itself, that is fine but when Bungie has the ability to detect a modder before it assigns it to one of my games, then I consider Bungie is failing me as a gamer. I don't mind modders, it's cheaters I can't accept. When I choose optimatch and you give me a modder, that's not what I bought, is it?
On top of that, after the game, I shouldn't have to report a gamer for being a modder. Halo2 should do that for me and take actions straight away by banning their Halo2 account on he spot. If it takes 2 days (or however long) for a modder to be banned after I report them, then it's 2 days (or however long) of fun had by the modder at everyone else's expense. That's not on.
I think Bungie is doing a lot but I think they are taking too soft an approach. I did not pay to have my online experiences ruined by cheaters, I don't want to play with them, I don't want to play against them and they probably don't like me anyway so why let them interact with me in the first place? The only thing that happens is I have a rant at them and they tell me that I smell and other niceties. Then I have to report them.
Own up to your customers Bungie, properly.
