Finally got this bloody account up. Shheeeeessshhh.
Anyways I'm sure everyone else has done this so I'm gonna post my theory on it.
I figure since the prophets and the elites distrust one another and have different principles on religion they will split. The split will probably be caused by philosophical differences between the elites and prophets. My theory on it is that the prophets will want to align themsleves with the humans to stop the flood but the elites will see it as heresy and break from the covenent. The brutes will likely go along will the prophets since they are their body guards, and the hunters will go with the elites since they respect one another. I'm not sure how the grunts and jackles will split but I'm sure they will end up on opposite sides.since they hate one another.
Then again there is no evidence that there will be a civil war.
Sorry if nobody cares about my theory, but it was a hot topic a while back and I was itching to get in one it but I couldn't get my account started.

Actually, the brutes are NOT their body guards, the elites are, it says it in the last chapter of First Strike, it mentions "the elite protectors."

in some halo 2 video it said how we would see examples of how the elites and brutes hate eachother.

But what does that have to do with the brutes not being the prophets body guards... damn you people... you confuse me...

prophets and elites were the original covenants, and they dislike each other

elites like hunters
hunters like elites
brutes like prophets
prohets like brutes
elites hate prophets
prophets hate elites
elites hate brutes
brutes hate elites
jackals hate grunts
grunts hate everyone
