How come I start up Halo CE and the screen flickers on the start-up screen that says, "Halo" with no options or anything.

What's wrong?

Specs:
Windows Vista 32-bit
Nvidia Geforce 8600gt
3 Gigs of RAM
2.3

Forgive me if there's a thread about this; I searcehd to my best abilities haha.

Let there be CHAOS!

I think I remember having an issue like this a while ago. Turned out I accidentally set a really funky refresh rate in the command line options. If you're using "-vidmode" in your Halo shortcut, make sure the resolution and refresh rate are supported by your monitor.

In my experience, NVIDIA's graphics drivers are sometimes enabled to force anti-aliasing by default. Halo does not support AA, and as a result the screen will flash at the loading screen while playing the background music of the main menu.

You need to go into the NVIDIA control panel and disable AA for Halo.

X-Fire: new420

and while you're in there, go ahead and force that old AFx16, makes halo look a little nicer.
