Now there's alot of talk going arond now adays about the search feature.

It tends to go on about:

- When is it coming
- why is it not here

But has anyone really wondered why we would ever need it in the first place? I mean seriously in my few years as a B.net user I have not once cursed to the sky that there is no search feature. In acctual fact I'm pretty sure that I didn't even think about in untill someone brought it up. I think really that it's time wasted that could be used on better things.

Look at it this way. When it's implymented the hard core backers of the search feature might use it once...but then what? Is it that big of a deal? Am I the only one that thinks there is way too much talk for something this small?

I agree. Its what booksmarks are for. And chances are you wont remember the title. Search by author wont work as there are so many posts people always make or you may not remember their name.

And it ill just help bumping.

"The Important Thing Is To Never Stop Questioning,"

A Search Feature would enable users to Search for Topics the wish to discuss, instead of posting about it again. So this would cut down on allot of the repeated questions and such. But, as the Mob is usually blind, it will only help slightly.

Just use the Google/MSN search method. If people want to find something so badly then they'll take appropriate measures to work out a method.

I seriously don't think a search feature will be useful. With the way people post in the incorrect threads to ask a question, I seriously doubt they will take the time to search for a thread. I am more worried about people bumping up extremely dead threads and just saying... "Yeah". Maybe if the search feature only goes back 3 months.

It may help me find threads that were posted a year ago though.

The search feature will help users who have a question see if it was already asked and answered. But their will always been spamers, and the search will help them bump old threads and use them for spam. So there really is a good side to have a search and a bad side, which will you choose? :) But for right now the Google/MSN search is good enough.

It seems to me most people that want the search feature want it to find old threads that they have made to see if anyone has posted in them. Like if you make a thread in Zanzibar and then don't log on in a couple of days that thread could be good and buried and they don't want to go looking through all those pages.
