I love Bungie and I love Halo, and I can't wait for Halo2 to come out just as much as everyone else... and- I knew there would be some changes to the HUD and UI, but I wonder just how much they are going to change the UI. I know they have to, because we can now go prone, peer around corners, take-over vehicles, etc... but I wonder how much it will change... and how 'slick' it will be:
-In the 4/30/04 Bungie update, they spoke of some HUD and UI changes, and they said: "We’re also bringing back a favorite feature that has been missing in Bungie games since the Myth series." Do any of you who may have played Myth know what they could be talking about?
-In the 4/23/04 Bungie update, they said: "He's also been tightening the vehicle boarding animations, and I can tell you, they look very cool. And the control system for that is pretty nifty too." makes me wonder. 'control system'? what is he talking about here? could there be something more than merely hitting 'x' to get into a warthog?!
Yes, I do admit I shouldn't be too concerned and should just trust Bungie to do it 'slick' and right. I just have this little itch that says, "If it aint broke, don't fix it".
Anyway, thanks for your time and any input. And if you've played Myth, what do you think they're doing?

The game sounds extremely complicated, and it gives me concerns, too. How will they use the same ol controller that 80-100% of the buttons were already being used in Halo 1? Melee combos, dual weilding, sprinting, peeking around corners....a lot of stuff for one dude to do from one controller...but heres the bottom line: its Bungie, and I trust them, and this game will knock everybodys socks off.

i'm just hoping that they will incorporate the 'd' pad for going prone and corner-peering (i NEVER use the 'd' pad in halo). i think we will probably hold 'y' down while pulling the left trigger to switch from left-handed pistol to grenades. i know there are dozens of threads out there about the UI- that's not what I'm trying to do here. I'm just mainly wondering about 'myth' and what might be included in the UI.

I totally forgot about the D-Pad, that opens up a lot...yeah i never played myth, some people think its a mini map, tools, or replays.

hmmm... i strongly doubt the replays, and the tools- if it's a mini map, i hope it's 'slick'-ly out of my way. AND... do you remember that old bungie update (i think it was) that talked about the arrows on the floor in halo1?? they said they had to do that because they were pressed on the release date?? i'm betting now that its a mini-map of some kind, because were not going to find arrows on the floor in halo2...
thanks for your input jedi631

In an earlier update, Frank also said that icons were being tested out instead of text to show that you are out of ammo or grenades.

How can you worry? It'll be great. :)

Yeah they will probably want to do all they can to avoid us getting lost again...that was the biggest complaint about Halo 1. So yes theres a good chace for mini maps or something related.

Actually I liked the arrows. They were somewhat confusing but you could see them from across a room cause they blink at you. Mini-map = in my way but hey I'll just wait til the games out.
