Subject: What happened to Hired Gun?

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

What happened to Hired Gun? Where did they go? Why doesn't Bungie talk about them anymore? Why isn't H2v supported by them anymore? Bungie claimed to be working with them for development on H2v, but we don't hear anything anymore from Bungie. I would like to know what happened to the team that developed H2v for Bungie and why they act like they never existed. Who is responsible for H2v, the lack of support, etc.?

That's what I'd like to know too.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Jo Clowes, project lead for H2V, seems to have disappeared. I tried emailing her and it bounced. One of the Bungie folks we all met here recently answered one of my countless PM's saying Bungie had nothing to do with H2V.

I can only imagine that they've gone to work on other Microsoft products...

...hahaha. :(

lolz

Which Bungie folk are you talking about? The mods and stuff here don't work for Bungie, they are just a front and a distraction.

Bungie saying they had nothing to do with H2v is an outright lie according to their own press releases and self promoting blogs. They were working closely with Hired Gun...until the game turned out like crap and now they had nothing to do with it? Where is Bungie's conscious?

Something smells fishy...

Yeah. Bungie definitely worked on Halo 2 Vista. If you look in the H2V manual at the credits, Bungie is one of the companies that is credited.

There is a section for those who worked on Halo 2 vista. I assume that those people worked for Hired Gun.

Also the Bungie logo is on the front of the Halo 2 Vista game case. Thus Bungie likely had something to do with the creation of Halo 2 Vista.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

They split up afterwords, and probably went to other parts of MSGS or were laid off.

Might as well pumps some relevant information and sense into this thread.

It's extremely likely that Bungie was involved in H2V at a level, but it doesn't mean they had any meaningful influence over the game.

Even if they had zero input into the game it's only logical that the Bungie brand would still be slapped all over the product as recognition for the original development work and to help market the game.

As for Hired Gun, as I said before, it was merely an attempt to give the project a public face. It's likely that most of the developers were already working on other MGS titles prior to Hired Gun's formation. A quick search will show that this is the case.

After Hired Gun 'completed' H2V the members were assigned to other MGS projects. If you check this link then you'll notice that all of the Hired Gun team members that we'd been made aware of were involved.

It's likely that most of the Hired Gun team members are working with other MGS studios on future titles.

As for why H2V has somehow managed to receive fewer updates than HPC, I suspect it has something to do with there being no studio with responsibility over the game.

H2V was ported by a group of staff pulled together from various other MGS projects. Once the job was complete they were reassigned to work on future releases. No studio or development team had clearly defined responsibility over the maintenance of the game and those with knowledge of the inner-workings were no doubt preoccupied with their new assignments.

While it doesn't excuse the shoddy product, it does go some way to explaining why the title wasn't supported beyond release.

I guess that ought to clear things up somewhat. ;)

Also Pi Studios, had a hand in the H2EK, what are they failing at now?
It's also like this game doesn't exist, you remember those articles about H2X being killed off, there was no mention of "oh you can buy Halo 2 Vista"

It's as though this game doesn't exist.

Here's a good one

Yea because you know Halo 2 Vista being a ported version of the Halo 2 for xbox v1 has nothing to do with Bungie getting credit for it. Right? >.> Seriously.

Yep, i just found out who you are, moifugly. You are gunmonkey80.
You have several aileses here as well.
And from this, you were trying to vandalize/edit the article under Shock120, one of gunmonkey's known ailses, and your dynamic IP.

I just wonder how they can live with themselves knowing they botched a game, and promoted it, and sold it.
Maybe they took the forget drug. :(

I don't know who any of you guys are! Who am I??
gunmonkey may be a pain, but I still think MS is worse for leaving such stupid things as a crash bug unpatched. The world needs its gunmonkies to show us all what's wrong and how helpless we are when it comes to companies having all the power.

not only does he show us a crash exploit, but he also proves Microshaft is racist.

I think you're Cortana,I know this because you annoy people by talking at the wrong times, when I'm trying to kill enemies.

Ok, so you are calling a company "racist" because one feature is unsupported.
The reason they didn't add them was it was not released in those areas for PC. Not "racism".
Stop jumping to lame conclusions, gunmonkey.

Don't take it too seriously, H2V is a joke after all.
You're starting to become a joke too.

right so, not supporting extended characters? it's funny how the map descriptions and gametypes support extended characters.
but never has anyone ever written in their native language.

Don't see any asian, french, russian, chinese and japanese languages being typed ingame.
I can call Microshaft anything I wish, for the reason that is called Halo 2 Vista.
