Generally speaking, I like ATI more, I'm not quite sure why. However, the newest nVidia Graphics Cards are supposedly better than the ATI x800s. Which means that if I had a choice between one or the other, I would probably have to go with ATI.

ooooo well your graphics won't load as fast, but you're lucky to get that...some people are stuck with a GeForce 5200 128mb. Better than nothing isn't it?

here is the answer to your question: It's basically favouritism, ATI and Nvidia aren't really much different. Graphically they preform basically the same. The only difference is that ATI is Canadian and Nvidia is American. I'm Canadian:D....but my dad got Nvidia, meh....oh well

I didnt know ATI was canadian. I guess canadians dont just make modems and ethernet cards. I personally have a Radeon 9600 xt which is absouletly awsome. I have never had a nvidia graphics card in my history of computers. Well the one i have now is the first one ever built and it is the first pc that has a very good card. My dads dell has a Rage 128 with 16mb of memmory. I tried halo with that thing and it just REJECTED that card like it was integrated. But now that i have my awsome 9600 xt, halo is just awsome! YAY for canada

i have a radeon 9200 (dont yell at me) and im wondering, do u ever get 'Texture Flicker' NOT FOR HALO! But for other games, say like BF 1942 or Final Fantasy XI. just wondering, btw, texture flicker is, when an object is, well, flickering and u can see the outside of it.

Well my crap computer has no AGP slot so i got stuck with very limited options. I had the choice b/w and ATI 9200 or an Nvidia FX 5200 (considering my budget) I went with the Nvidia Fx 5200 w/ 256 and it runs every game i have runs great on 800x600. The FPS is usually b/w 20-30 on Halo except in the really busy parts where it drops to under 15. But still really good considering the card and the computer.

most likely no, well it looks like you need a new video card, im sorry to say. 9600 xt is good or if money is no problem than you can go get a 9800 xt. If you want a x800 than you will need pci express but that requires a new motherboard. im not stopping you but 9800 xt is very good too. and 9600 xt.

Hey spartan002 what cpu do you have and how fast is it. if you have an athlon xp at 2 gigs than the 9600 xt will work good with halo. I overclocked, actually i had my host clock on 100 mhz, but then i changed it to 133 and it changed back to 2 gigs where it was originally before i cleared my cmos settings and now it works awsome at 1024+768 or whatever that resoultion is and at the setting of No vsync and it is great. other than you have to turn it down to 800+600 which is ok.

If you spend some money you can get one for the PCI slot.

Thats what he means (I think), he had to get a PCI slot version, which are noticably slower than the AGP4x solutions, by about 3 FPS. Anyways, now to NARK. You do not need PCI express to use the ATI X800 series of cards, or the NVIDIA 6800 series. For the $20-30 more, you can get a X800Pro over a 9800XT, which pwns it so badly Im getting pissed at ATI for not lowering the 9800XT prices (not that I want to buy one, but mabye a 9800pro...).

EDIT-
Funny, the Xbox uses a Geforce 3 style of gfx card by Nvidia (definitly have to say PWNED on that one). As well, I do realize there are rumours of the Xbox2 using the new generation of cards from ATI, but it was started by the Inquirer, so there.

ATI makes the x800 for pci x only, but if you get an x800 from(example) gigabyte, they will have the x800 using agp. i cant find the link to that one site. I cant proove you wrong until i find it.
O an by the way, CANADA IS AWSOME.
