Have you beat the Maw on Legendary? It was hard for me, how about you?

The Maw? Man thats one of the easiest missions on Legendary. The last part in the Warthog is so easy, I allways finish that with like a minute to spare. And one of the hardest parts is when you have to battle the two Hunters, the SpecOps Covenant, the Flood, and the shielded Sentinels. But you can go left from inside the access way and crouch than shoot through the glass safety door. Also, don't even bother going to the armory, you'll just get killed by the infinite amount of Flood pouring through the door.

I do believe I've done it with over a minute to spare on legendary.

Maybe I'm mistaken, though.

Yeah me too. I've never played The Maw on Legendary on HPC - I just remember doing it on co-op on the Xbox and it was insanely hard. Maybe they give you more time on the PC - or maybe it just is easier with the keyboard and mouse, but an entire minute to spare.... I gotta try it now.

well for one, the maw on legendary is considerably easy relative to most of the other levels on legendary, though I'm not saying this makes it easy to beat. I'd have to say it's a close tie between AotCR and Keyes being the hardest [on legendary], I hated the flood on legendary so I've only just gotten to playing those flood levels on legendary, but after 343 and The Library you really get a feel for taking the flood on and that they are in fact nicer to see than any spec. ops elite. However those rocket launcher flood still have a mean shot. I was busy taking on some carriers in the library when boom, I come head on with a large explosive...you get the picture.

I still have 2 more levels to go until I've beaten the entire game on Legendary, just Two Betrayals and Keyes. Trust me once you endure getting killed on Legendary the first 30 times you'll get a feel for the tactics and strategies to use, remember with any enemy make sure you choose the battlefield, don't get stuck in some god-for-saken hallway with a few elites, for covies I like to use distance whereas the flood you want nice and upclose with your shotgun+AR. If you beat at least one level on Legendary, the next one and the next one should just become easier. good luck ;)

I've noticed that you really can't pick and start just any level on HPC for campaign - it's kinda different from Halo for the xbox - where you could pick just any level you've already played through and choose your difficulty.

I get stuck on legendary once I've boarded the truthand reconciliation. It's hard enough getting onboard, but then those gold elites mow me down. I've made it a point to conserve my sniper rifle ammo for those gold elites since nothing else can seem to take them down once they see you before they lop your head off.

Any tactical suggestions?

hmmm that's weird because you're supposed to be able to play any level you've beaten on any difficulty. So if you've played through the entire game you can replay any of the 10 levels individually on easy, noramal, heroic, or legendary. Maybe your copy is messed up?

ahhh, you're reliving my worst nightmare, that area there is probably the HARDEST in the entire game on legendary. I would say I went through that about 30 times before giving up, I'm still trying to remember If i beat it or not. Your best bet is going on top of the wraith and duking it out from up there, the problem was I kept trying to do it without the sniper rifle, you really need that thing to take out the gold and invisible elites, just use nightvision on it to see the invisible ones :)

Heh, that part isn't TOO incredibly hard once you get a feel for it. Personally, I like to keep either a PP and an AR on me to kill those elites, or the SR and the AR. I personally prefer the SR and AR, because you can take out other things with it too, but I've managed with the PP and AR. Just to let you know (although you probably already do), the best way to kill parties of covenant that don't contain elites is to toss a frag down the hallway. It'll buy you time to kill the other parties with elites. And you shouldn't run out of frags, as the marines like to drop them when they die

the maw was so easy! (comparitively of course)

i gave up after halfway thru t&r

i did do aotcr though. it wasnt too hard with the little shortcuts you can take. (there is a way to skip like... half the level, but i didnt do that. just the smaller ones)

all ive done on legendary is poa, halo, aotcr, and the maw.

The only levels that were really difficult for me were The Library and Keyes. I don't think I've actually beaten the Library on Legendary yet and the only hard part on Keyes was when you were stuck outside of the ship.

And to aM Inspire: I beat the driving part of the Maw in under four minutes. Both Halo Xbox and PC give you five minutes to finish it. The trick is to just keep driving when Cortana tells you to stop for FoeHammer. But I guess it was easiar for me because my computer really slowed down on the last part, so the clock lagged and everything seemed to be going in slow motion which made it easiar for me to dodge things like explosions and pillars.

Man - i thought they gave you less time.

Yeah - there is a huge shortcut on AotCR - I've actually played through to see how fast I could beat the game on Easy - not skipping any cutscenes - 3 hours.

A grenade a day keeps the Covenant away
Use Flood-B-Gone daily to keep your rotting corpse dead...

dang i cant even beat the first level on legendary, i did beat it on easy in about 3hrs though but i couldn't take a step without getting my face eaten off. I even punched my comp because i got so mad.

Judging by the fact that you joined Bungie.net today, I'm guessing you just bought Halo a little while ago? Thats good that you beat the game in three hours(It took me like ten my first time). You should work your way up the difficulty settings instead of going straight to Legendary.

What is that "huge shortcut?"

And I heard somewhere that you can steal the banshees in the maw? (mabie bull cr@p, i dunno)

It's not really a huge shortcut, but there is some vehicle access ways that you can cut through. As for the Banshees? I think you can steal them because the Banshees there are different. Theres no Elite piloting them and the cage is open, but I've never really tried to jump up and get in them.

Close.

Memorize the part with Foehammer, remember exactly what the angle of attack the banshees come in at, and pick the lowest flying one. Next time around, then, drive the hog directly under the incoming banshee, park the hog, get out, and hop onto (not INto,but ONto.) the highest part of the hog, the roof. When the shee comes close, jam down the "E" key and...voila! Instant banshee.
