Yesterday, there was a major flame war, one which I was involved in. I merely attempted to point out that the discussion of Religion and Politics is not allowed, and i was flamed to within an inch of my life. Many personal insults were dished out to me, including insults about my mother, threats to shoot me, posts that implied I should kill myself. Also, insults that involved the word '-blam!-' and '-blam!-' (words that I don't find offensive in the slightest). I stood my ground, but without relying on personal insults. Now, this was all conducted by myself, and 2 kids that are'nt even old enough to play Halo. Now, my question is should kids who aren't old enough to play Halo be allowed on this site? Please note, I am not having a dig at any of the younger members who conduct themselves in the proper manner, this is just a discussion. So.... Discuss! (I have been burnt enough recently, so please no flaming)

I don't think there should be an age limit. I think it should be up to the parents. Do they think their children can handle the violence in Halo? Even though some parents are complete idiots and don't raise their children right. BTW, I am 16.

Yes they should.

And I know the problem of which you speak. I post less because of it.

Yes it should, but I also think that parents need to be more aware of what their children are playing. When I was younger, I played all kinds of nasty, gory games. My parents had no idea what I was playing. Its difficult to call though, because I don't want to come on here and be subjected to abuse from some smart alec kids just because I am trying to spread the knowledge of rulage on this forum.

Political and religious discussion are highly avoided BECAUSE of all the little kids here. At places like www.christianforums.com, political and religious discussion can actually happen because the participants are all at least marginally mature.

As far as policing chldren on the site, it's nearly impossible to do. That's why it's open to all ages, because restircting ages is difficult.

i just turned 15 so i can just "legally" play halo even though i have been playin it since release. I dont care about the age limit idea but i think that "expulsions" from the site should be delt out more readily to the less mature participants that feel that they should flame people. respect the honor system.

They shouldn't, because when they start flaming, it just gets really ugly and annoying (IE Spartan 6000).
And the only thing they have to offer to the boards are really dumb questions, and really old news.

They should make some allowances. I'm 14, and I abide by the rules.

hey I'm 14, but mature about the forums. So I hate when people spam or flame. I think maturaty is what you should look at. If someone flames you tell the mods, don't feed their hunger with replies. (unless you didn't reply)

It is not how mature the person in body that is the problem it is how mature is his mind.

I should stay okay please let me stay PLEASE!!!!!

I'm 12 and play halo and I don't give the slightest thought about actually killing a team mate (unless they killed me on purpose) and I'm very mature if you meet me in person but on the forums I can talk the way I like to talk when no one is looking so I'm mature and don't spam. The mods will take care of things don't worry.

Ratings doesn't do anything. The stores sell 17+ games to 5 year olds without hesitating. And if someone now says "It's up to the parents to decide what games their children should play", that person don't know what he/she is talking about.
True, parents should decide what their children are allowed to play, but no one does. Most parents don't care or don't know anything about videogames. They still think that all games are exactly like tetris or pacman. And if they still happen to see all the blood in the game their 5 year old is playing, all the 5 year old needs to is say something like "it's just in some places" or "but it's not real blood, it's blue" or "don't worry, I know it's just red paint"
(the red paint thing always have worked for me when I wanted to see 15+ movies when I was 9 or something)
Ohh, by the way, does ketchup exist in USA? or wherever you're from?
