Bear with me on this one. My GF gets a mailer on candlemaking. Thumbing through it I found a term that clicked a little. It advertised 'Autumn Pillars'. It's a certain type of candle. Hmmmm, Combat Evolved starts with a lone ship(PoA) keeping darkness from destroying humanity.
"In Amber Clad" might be a little tougher of a sell. Amber is pine resin that has a habit of solidifying around small plants and animals and keeping them preserved forever in time. The name of the ship suggests something/someone preserved through the ages to be resurrected at a much later date. Perhaps akin to the storyline of 'Jurassic Park'. Could there be a link to the whole "I love bees" thing?
"Forward unto Dawn'. This phrase always suggested that the darkest times of the night are just before the sun rises. It suggests that hanging on just a little bit longer will bring about preservation.
So, the Halo story starts with humanity at it's lowest ebb with only a flicking candle. It continues with a person/thing sealed off from time and the elements for a later date.
Lastly, it ends with an acknowlegdement that things are really bad right now, but that salvation is almost at hand.
Not quite an ironclad hypothesis I admit, but it does give one things to ponder. Can anybody help me out with thoughts, obserations or ideas on this?
Thanks
