I Love Marathon!

I am using an HP laptop with windows 7. I got halo 2 not too long ago and have been having a lot of problems. I know a lot of people have been having a problem where it says "Games for windows live failed to initalize." Now, i am having another problem. When i get to the "Sign into windows live" screen at the main menu in halo 2, I always try to sign in. I use all of my proper information. When i click "Sign in" , it always gives me an error message. It says "The profile could not be signed into Xbox LIVE. There may be a network problem or Windows LIVE ID service is not avalible." I tried everything. I tried just doing it with my wireless connection. Then, i tried to plug my ethernet cable directly into both of my routers, and i even plugged the ethernet cable into my xbox and nothing worked. If i click "Network Status" when im wireless, there is absoloutly nothing. No IP,UPnP, nothing. Then, when i plug my computer into my router, it shows somethings but it still wont let me log in. When i use the direct ethernet cable connection, it says my UPnP isnt signed in, yet my router is compatible with Xbox LIVE. What is going on here. Can somebody help me please? Thank you very much.

Make sure Internet Explorer and MSN are not running on proxies.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

A proxy hides your internet address. Doesn't really matter. Go into IE internet options and make sure there are no proxies set up there. You want IE and everything else to connect directly to the net, not through some remote proxy server.

I can't get on either. I tried playing the missions as one suggestion stated somewhere online, but that didn't help. I can get on Windows Live, and I can see my friends online, but I can't see or join any games, and if I host, no one can join. I've been online before, and I have not changed any Internet or network settings ever.

The only one event I can relate to revolving around this is I installed Halo 2 on my laptop if I'm going on long trips, but I can't even get Halo 2 to start up for the first time succesfully, so I don't think that's the problem.
