What I mean is that, whil talk of Halo 2 on XBL sounds great, there is another features, downloadable content. Great right? That's not a rhetorical question, the answer is yes! But think logically, they release the first Map pack.. and charge 10 dollars to DL it. Say, just for simplicity of numbers, 200,000 players on XBL. Some will DL this in a second, but others will say "I pay $50+ already and another $50 for XBL, I've paid my debts, give it to me for free". Say 50% DL it, thats 100,000 x 10. Go ahead, get your calculators out. 1 Million dollars like that *snaps fingers*. And of course those who don't DL it can't play the games with the people who did DL it, will get sick of everyone playing the new map without them, and they will buy it. Great sheme,

But my question is how much would you pay for the following at max?

New Maps/Map Packs - $5, $10, $20, not buy it at all
Only the first few new maps, after say 20 bucks, it's not worth it to buy more.
New campaign levels - $10, $20, not buy it
New Weapons Pack - $10, $20, not buy it

and if a patch fixes a bug that you have fun with (ie, Map Jumping), would you DL it?

this isnt a PC, so if a patch comes out you cant play online till you have downloaded the patch.

I'd pay $5 max because none of it is even a tangible product. Oh and you forgot the possiblity of new custom icons. :)

Well, first off, I do not have Xbox Live and cannot get Xbox Live (due to myself not being able to get broadband in this area in the first place), so my post doesn't even really have any voice.

I think if prices were placed on the maps, there'd be 3-5+ maps in each pack, being $5 for a pack. I believe that's how MechAssault is set, isn't it?

The only games that I recall having pay-to-download packages are MechAssault and Karaoke Revolution. Then again, Phantasy Star Online requires a subscription just to play. That's three games that cost money.

Anyway, let me get to my point. I think that if packages are $5 for some maps (or even $10, I suppose), people will buy them. If they're too cheap to spend $5 for hours and hours of fun, they don't deserve them for $5, much less free.

Ya, but I dont know many people that would pay for new icons, those sound free. And the patch thing just skipped my mind, but you could always play offline with friends.

Also for a wicked new game type (Such as Grinder!! Sorry I forgot your name, but you posted it last night, god help us I hope that mode makes it in the game), how much would you pay?

EDIT: Ya but the difference is that Mechassault levels arn't 1/2 as difficult and massive, and probably time consuming on the developers as a good Halo 2 MP level, the extra work time and resources, we would probably have to pay more.

Damn you had me fooled. When you said "war-machine" I thought you were literally speaking of a war-machine empire that will grow from Bungie. I mean they are trying to take over the world after all.

bungie.net forum activity will be cut by half by november 10. I'll pay my dues and kiss Bungie goodbye as soon as I have H2 in my hands.

Unless I misread your subject, but Bungie said that downloadable content will be free, its in FAQ.

Well, if it isn't free..

Icons I wouldn't pay a plug knickle for. Couldn't care less about those. I'm gonna do everything i possibly can to stay out of a silly clan.

Maps, maybe. More than likely. Like 5 bucks, but there should be a lot of them.

It really all depends on how soon they come out. I bought both PGR2 packs, but I rarely if ever play it anymore. I've played the long beach like once. The tracks are un-inspiring and the cars only have like two that are remotely worth driving. Those came out pretty late in PGr2s lifespan.

Much like neonight before me, i don't have access to broadband because i live out in the middle of nowhere. However, if i did have access i would without hesitation pay anything under $10 for all of the options that could come later - luckily i do subscribe to OXM which has delivered booster packs in the past to games like DOA3 to us less fortunate citizens. Hopefully, they would eventaully deliver with the Halo2 goods.

I'm pretty sure Bungie stated they wouldnt charge for any of the xbl services. Including downloads.

They said that none of the downloadable content for any game will be more than five bucks so don't worry about it.

But that could mean $5 per map or $5 for 5 maps. Personally I value a multiplayer map at no more than $2 and realisticly just a $1.

The crappy thing is playing lan games with people who don't have Live or have not DL'ed the maps. Does anyone know if you can sign on through someone elses box and DL content? Sucks for modded boxes too, but I still believe in buying the games that you truly support (Halo 2, of course).
