With stronger shields that have the same damage capacity of the health is better: 1st of all if you have low health on halo u need a med pack but if your shields go really low on halo 2 they recharge and u dont need to find a medpack, 2nd it will keep you alive longer against pistol shots because if a pistol shot hits you in the head with no shields you die because the health goes down immediatly from headshots but if you get hit in the head with a pistol with shields they just go down instead of you dieing immediatly. So in the long run it is just better for you

"This ain't no ice-cream social" Sarge RvB

there better be, otherwise I may have to stop sniping, and I don't wanna stop, it's so fun.

Plus, that wasn't the final build, there still can be health, let's hope!

that would be stupid to not have a health bar. Think about it for a sec. No health bar, you basically are dead. If you are dead, then why would you need a sheild if you were already dead?

They must have a new concept with the health bar and sheild. A big difference of halo from other games was the shield.

The design in Halo 1 was great, i had no problems with it. I think you just want better vitality and shields becasue you suck at the game.

it was perfect but removing the health makes it both more chalenging and fun, especially on legandarry i think it was an awesome move by bungie

Not showing a health bar does not mean you're dead. That's ridiculous. This would just make you more careful about losing your sheilds.

Allthough i like the 3 shot kills and think it was just fine and made it perfectly realistic alot of people didnt, this will solve their problem while still maintaining realism. So that it might take 4 shots to bring your shields down but infact the bullets are doing the same amount of damage

But how about realistic. Bungie is trying to make halo 2 as realistic as possible. With out ruining gameplay.

Noooo, the real question is what about dual overcharge plasma pistols :) :)

No they wont because if we have stronger shields this means that the pistol M6D will most likely have to fire 5 or 4 shots, but then the magnum will only have to fire like 2

WTF? Okay then I think someone might be a little confused here.

In Halo 2 the HUD you have seen is INCOMPLETE meaning there very well may be a health bar, but not like that of Halo 1. Look at screenshots of the HUD we have seen. Now look at the shield bar. Notice that thingy all the way to the right? Yeah that almost square box thing.

What Bungie can do is have it change color based on damage. Meaning start out blue, fade to yellow and fade to red as damage comes and goes. That simple. Or with the odd HUD that I've seen in the beta shots the lower left seems to have the health. So instead have something such as that happen, but in the different location.

Also you'd assume that Bungie would keep three shots the magic number? They may have wised up and made it 5, or maybe even 8 like on legendary mode in Campaign. But we don't know.

Another thing. Why the hell would Bungie get rid of Health packs? Do you want them gone? Are you that stupid and incapable of taking on someone that manages to grab that health pack before you?

I know it is ridiculus, I was just trying to say that there would have to be something dealing with health. It would be stupid to change such a critical part of Halo 1 in Halo 2.

I don't really see what was wrong with the old health/shields system. I hope bungie doesn't decide to try to fix something that ain't broke.

I'm getting tired of answering to arguments like this but here goes.

At this point (and most likely to be the way it is) there is no visible health bar. This does not, i repeat DOES NOT mean you do not have health. Bungie has stated that you can take a few hits without shields, just like in Halo. There is still a health system in place but there are no med packs to restore health because your health recharges much like your shields do, only at a much slower pace.

This way you never see your health, so you never worry about your health, and you dont run back for a med pack, you keep moving forward and advancing the game. There wont be uber-players who never die in games because they hide when their shield pops and come back without a scratch. They still have health and it's damaged, there's just no bar there to make them run back for a health pak.

first off you dont know if there is a health bar or not considering bungie said that the hud at e3 was just a placeholder.

Are you talking to me? Cause the first thing I say when I talk about the health is that that is how it is for NOW, and may change, although I dont think it will

if you read what i had posted youd know, i know that the HUD is incomplete and might and probably will change, but i am talking about the builds we have seen sofar and from what people have said who have played it. And u would also know that i said the pistol will probably take 5 shots to kill you. I dont care if they get rid of health packs, i never use them anyway, i am just saying alot of people dont like the removal of the health because they think it will make them die faster but infact it does the opposite. Also alot of people dont like 3 shot kills, i like 3 shot kills they are awesome, so those people have got their wish but bungie has still kept it realistic by not reducing the bullet damage and instead making the shields stronger

  • 08.04.2004 9:52 AM PDT

Fact is, if you only used shields in Halo 2 the plasma weapons would become overowered and the human ones underpowered.
