Help!
Okay, so I've had Open NAT for H3 up until today (and the first thread I saw when I got on today was this... cosmic :p). Today I tried joining a co-op Campaign game with a friend, and it wouldn't let me. It said my NAT settings were moderate. It says the same thing when I try matchmaking.
So I turned off my xbox and went on bungie.net (what else would I do with H3 NAT messed up?). I had already made my computers IP address static for some PC gaming, so I went through the steps you listed and made a static IP for the xbox. I connect to XBL, everything works. Then I forward all the ports you listed, and tried testing twice. It still said moderate. I looked in FAQ, saw the extra 2 ports, and forwarded those as well. Still nothing. I hadn't wanted to use DMZ, since you said that might invite hackers, but I tried it because port forwarding wasn't working. Still moderate while on DMZ (I had removed the forwarded ports from before, since you said those and DMZ canceled each other out). So then I went ahead and tried connecting my xbox straight to the modem with my ethernet cable, but when I test the connection, it keeps failing on the "Network" test part.
It might be my ISP, since I haven't been able to test with modem, but I've had Open NAT before today, and I didn't change ISP overnight.
Anything at all? I've done everything in your OP...
Awesome work, you're covering all the bases in the guide that I could've blamed it on. In order to get the xbox working directly from the modem, you need to enter in some more details which are on the router since it usually performs the function of being a gateway for the webnet- ISP's username and password for example.I got it to work. I found out my dad had bought another router (he just... does these things, don't ask :p), and he bought it at the exact same time that my NAT stopped being open, and started being moderate. I went into the network settings for the new router, and after going through all the tabs, I found out that it had UPnP. So I plugged my xbox's ethernet into the new router, but got the same problem as when I plugged it into the modem, it failed the test at the network stage.
I gave up on it for a bit, but after 5 restarted matchmaking searches in a row, and the inability to connect to 2 friends, I decided that I had to fix this. I started trying different combinations of settings, and then struck gold. It turned out that the xbox was unable to connect to the modem while it had the static IP settings on, because these were configured to my old router and computer's setup. When I finally connected to the modem, I got Open NAT.
So, then I tried connecting to my new router while my xbox was on Automatic, and it worked! I have Open NAT now.
Moral of the story? If you find yourself unable to connect to your modem to test whether it's your IP's fault, or your router's fault, reset your xbox's settings back to normal (oh, and don't worry about losing the static IP settings, the next time you switch back to static IP, it will already have everything setup (at least until you turn your xbox off, didn't test it that far)). I think you should add that to the guide, in case anyone else has trouble with connecting to the modem.
Anyway, thanks for the help, I probably wouldn't have thought of connecting to the modem without this guide.
