Ok guys, here is a detailed report on what I have done, but my NAT still isn't open. Can anyone figure this out? If you can't then I'm just stuck with strict, or I get a new router. So help would be awesome!
Part A: Obtaining IP Address: Well I knew my IP address, but when I looked at it again (but the way you showed, not the one the Xbox shows) the last 3 digits are the ones I had picked out for it but I didn't mean to change it. (But it's the same digit as it was before when I went into my router settings. Oh well) I hope that doesn't affect anything
Part A: Making Your Xbox Static: Ok, I've gotten all these numbers for these things I don't understand. So I put them into my Xbox 360. So I put in ALL of the exact same numbers except I change the last digit to a 3 digit number (I guess it won't hurt if I tell) which is 180. So I can still connect to Xbox Live. So I guess I did something right :P
Part A: Changing your computer to static: So I make my way to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). They were set to automatic, so I guess that means it wasn't static. I put in the exact same stuff as I did on the Xbox 360, but I change the last 3 digits of the IP address on this one. I change it to 225. So I change it to manual, and I'm still connected. So hopefully that means that the pc is static as well.
Part B: So I put in my ORIGINAL Ip address into the "whatever the kids these day call it, and type it into where you usually type www.google.com" :P. This is an example of what mine looks like (NOTICE: This isn't mine, this is a random pic off of port forwarding) http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Belkin /F5D7230-4/F5D7230-42.jpg
Part B: DMZ: Ok, so on that pic you can even see DMZ on the left so I click it, enter the password, and I'm here: And btw something I just noticed: I have 2 ip addresses? One static and one private?? What?? I'm so confused! (Yes, total computer noob here!) Here's what it looks like for me, and as you can see I put in 180 as the last 3 digits, which are the last 3 digits of my static Xbox 360's. So I click enable, and apply! Woot, Open NAT, right? Wrong. Nothing has changed whatsoever AGH! Here's what it looks like for me: http://i34.tinypic.com/256v18m.jpg
Part B: Port Forwarding (The evil of all evils) Ok, so I'm still totally confused about this, because the guide and Port Forwarding tell me different things. See?: http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Belkin /F5D7230-4/Xbox_Live_360.htm But I'll just follow the guide. (BTW I disenabled (word?) the DMZ) So he says to put it on both UDP and TCP, but I can only put it on one, so I guess I'll just put each twice, but on UDP for one and TCP for the other. Here's what it looks like: http://i33.tinypic.com/rcon0i.jpg
So it still doesn't work.
I've tried the troubleshooting stuff, but to no avail. I just don't know what to do next! I'm so frustrated, but I really want to fix this. I would like just to get another good router with open NAT, but my Dad would probably not want to go through the 2 hours of setup it takes. So I think that may not be an option.
I really need some help. Thanks to anyone who can!
