i have forewarded my ports, given my xbox a static Ip and also put it outside the firewall( using DMZ) none of this has opened my Nat - Help please? :)

use static IP addresses for everything on the network. forward the ports to the 360 manually. make sure the router is set as the gateway address (in my set up it is also the dns server address) on the xbox 360 side of things. and turn upnp on.

(1.)Where do you go to see what your gateway address is for your router?

(2.)Is it in the router settings where you login to your router? or is it in the cmd program?

(3.)Also when I do find the gateway address that I need to use where do I go to set the gateway address for my router?

1 & 2) The router's IP address (usually 192.168.1.1) is the gateway address for the network.

3) You only need to set the gateway address for the network devices attached to the router. Do so in the network settings section of the dashboard on the xbox 360.

I don't get mad. I get even.

Hi,
I am trying to open my NAT for my new Actiontec Q1000. I've done everything so far except on my router configuration page, in the port forwarding section, I only see the options "TCP", "UDP", or "GRE". I don't see a "TCP/UDP" option or both. Can anyone help clear this up?

  • 09.28.2010 6:52 PM PDT

oh well then I already did that so my problem is elsewhere probably something in the port forwarding.

  • 09.28.2010 8:03 PM PDT

alright their is something that isn't working. I put in 4 different port forwarding applications enabled all 4 to my 360 IP address even enable DMZ at the same time. Then I tried to do just DMZ and that didn't work and vise versa with port forwarding.

Here's something for someone to figure out, I have a wireless modem which is on the roof of my house which goes across town wireless to a big aerial thing.

From the roof it comes down into my room and I have it plugged into my router via ethernet, I then have another 2 ethernets from the same router to the PC and 360.

I get connection which is fine but my NAT is on moderate, the IP for this device on the roof is 192.168.150.1 but I cant access the settings in a browser.

I also have to set the settings for the net through the PC and 360, If I setup the settings just through the router it stays idle on "connecting" but never connects.

It's hard to understand all this stuff. But good read anyways. I'll try over the weekend cause my connection has always been on moderate.

make sure the dns server address on the 360 is your router's ip address also. when you make the changes and forward the ports, turn upnp off and then on.

when in doubt -- power cycle all the network devices when you're changing settings across the whole network after you make your changes.

You shouldn't worry about accessing the modem's settings.

Focus on forwarding the ports in your router to a single IP address. Manually change the IP address of your network devices (the xbox 360 should receive the IP address where the ports are forwarded to).

Make sure your gateway and DNS server information is uniform on the devices (to be the router IP address).

This does not fix the problem of a nat issue when you have two xboxs on one IP. Like myself. whichever xbox I turn on first becomes the open nat and the other is closed. What I need help with is figuring out without using static ips because that sucks and no one ever has a good way or instruction to setup static ip.

not to be rude...but it's not that hard.

open network settings on the xbox 360 dashboard. select manually assign. assign an ip address within the range of 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.255 (if the router is 192.168.1.1). then forward the ports on the router to that ip address you just arranged.

in the case of two, forward the ports to one, and open a dmz for the other. it won't get much more open than that. it may just have trouble because it's trying to utilize the same ports to do different things and always be moderate or something like that. but that's a pretty good option.

My NAT is now open thanks to the said advice mentioned in the thread, my only problem is that after playing a few matches or getting shot at. It goes to connecting to host then kicks everyone but me out of the game and I win. Its not very cool and it's starting to get me annoyed cause I dont want to get banned for something I have little control over.

My network status says Warning for my upstream bandwidth, packet losss is low/excellent, and my NAT is open. I consistently get 19mbps down and 2.Xmbps up. My ping averages around 45ms. Does anyone have any idea why my upstream bandwidth says Warning under my network status? According to all of the speedtests I've done my speeds are above average. Any advice is appreciated.

Grawhgghr.

My NAT is now open, thanks to this epic guied!!!1 :D

However, now my Xbox won't connect to XBL automatically. Instead, I have to sign in, test connection and when it gives me the thumbs-up, only then can I connect with my account.

Any way around that?

there is an auto-sign in option associated with your gamer profile. make sure that's active.

worked for me thanks!

I'm not sure if I'm in the right forum. But I've been getting a lot of "The Halo: Reach server is unavailable" messages. What's more is while I'm playing the game will stop recognizing my player profile. I can still finish the online game, no lag whatsoever, but all of my customizations/logos do not show, it's like I'm playing as a default player.

I've checked my NAT setting which is reading, "Open" and I have opened all of the additional ports for my router. However, there are times when I just cannot connect to the Halo: Reach server.

What makes this more confusing is that this is the ONLY game that this happening with. Halo 3 and Read Dead Redemption run fine. I can download demos from Marketplace with no problem, or voice chat with friends via Live. It seems the problem is exclusive with connecting to the Reach server. I've contacted Live Support 3 or 4 times, and they seem as stumped as I am.

My internet is coming in strong at around 25 Mbps, and I'm uploading at 3 Mbps. I really don't know what to do with to fix this problem. There are times when it works fine and I can play with no problem, other times I can play a few games before I can no longer detect the server. And other times I cannot detect the server at all.

So if there's anyone out there that has experienced a similar problem and knows how to fix it, I would be greatly appreciative of some advice right now. Thanks.

Yeah, it's already active on another account (which is also on XBL) but neither of them will connect automatically when I sign into them. It gives me that dialogue box which says 'Cannot connect to Xbox LIVE, blah blah blah'.
When I've tested the connection it works fine. But it doesn't appear to even try to connect to XBL when I sign in because it gives me the dialogue box almost immediately after I've signed in.

I'd like to connect more than one xbox on my network to xbox live.

I see that you've noticed that your router won't allow you to open the same port for two different xboxes. We can't work around this at all. Only one xbox per Internet connection can possibly be forwarded the xbox live ports, or inserted directly into a modem.

Yes you can, via port triggering, I do it now and have no problems.

Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.

I know this is not directly related to this post, but I can't get any answers... and most of you guys seem to know what you are talking about.

Is playing Reach with 5mb to 7mb down and close to 1mb up feasible? or am I doomed?

Go to network settings and restore to factory defaults. If it doesn't work do it a couple of times and it should be open. Remember to enable you connection again.
