Wipe me down!
ZAP a.k.a. Mr. Cool Guy, 2 Man Beer Club CEO

Hey Chef. I was wondering if you could help me with my "upstream bandwidth." When I go into the Network Status menu in Halo: Reach; I show an Open NAT Rating, a Low/Excellent Packet Loss Rate, but show a Warning! for Upstream Bandwidth. I have 18 meg internet service, I use a wireless connection, I have the black dual antenna wireless network adapter for my 360, and I have a Ubee modem/g router combo which is only like 15 ft. away from my 360. According to Speedtest.net, my Ping is 10 ms, my download speed is 29.55 Mbps, and my upload speed is 2.14 Mbps. If you have any ideas or advice for me I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

IM WHITE LOL

-i did the static IP for the xbox portion
-typed in my router IP in address bar
-logged in
-went to the system settings
in the system settings there is this thing
NAT Enabling:
ADVANCED FEATURE! Allows you to turn the Network Address Translation feature off. In almost every case you would NOT want to turn this feature off. More Info
- NAT Enable / Disable >

Do i still have to go through the port forwarding or can i just disable this thing and click enter? plz get back to me asap. thanks.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

This way too long...

Just go to dashboard > my xbox > connection > run test...

Your nat is reset to open...

Does anyone else have a "Warning!" for Upstream Bandwidth in the Network Status menu on Halo: Reach? Also, does anyone know what I can do to fix this? Or increase my bandwith somehow? I cannot figure out why I would have this warning. If anyone can help me I'd be very greatful. Thanks.

What kind of dongle are you using. There is almost ALWAYS a way to do it.

And to the above posts. I have been getting a warning lately about my upstream bandwidth as well.
It has not affected my gameplay, and would be best not to worry about if it has recently changed. If this has always been the case AND you have laggy games, check that your ISP can provide you with an appropriate connection, or that no machines in the house are currently hogging your connection (Torrent downloads for example, more specifically, uploading with P2P programs)

Thats easy since you can run command prompt from All programs>accessories and its just there like a normal application. Btw I love how you he explain the whole thing like it really is for dummies(you will feel like a hacker) lol.

I haven't seen him post in forever.

I'm gonna lose to a lurker.

My NAT was always moderate, so one day during a free Gold weekend I followed guides online (not this one though) on how to change it to open. I did everything and it made it strict for some reason.

So I put everything back how it was and it went back to moderate. I kid you not though, the day after the free Gold weekend ended, my NAT became open on it's own! Now I patiently wait with an open NAT I can do nothing with for the next free Gold weekend to come around.

For the port forwarding section. Do I type in each number on the list in both fields, and Xbox_live1 for the name every time, and it's ip for that ip? For each number I mean. If so, when I tried 3074, it said it was already in use. Could you pm with about this, please?

Don't -blam!- with Kerser!

Starting Port: If I say open 3074, enter 3074. if I say open 200-210, enter 200.
Ending Port: If I say open 3074, enter 3074. if I say open 200-210, enter 210.

What does he mean by that...

And when i press save when i opened my ports it says "The value is out of range 1 ~ 65535"

Im in college, and right now in Concepts and Theory's of networking Phase. I was reading along seeing if i missed up somewhere and i did, i put my 360 in a DMZ and portworded it, and then it dawned on me why that'd conflict, If its in a dmz its outside the lan, and the who purpose of a NAT (network adress translation) is to use multiple ips in your lan and apear as one ip to the outside world and it (in short) uses ports to select what data frame(s) goes to who.

Im thinking of putting it back into my lan as at one point in me configuring around i had an open nat (as i had all the right ports forwarded). Also i noticed some posts saying to have Upnp enabled (universal plugNplay) Ill turn mine off(probably should have done it anyway, pnp isnt the safest thing on earth).

play fair, master chief is watching you

Thanx alot =) I did it 5-8 months ago and it worked perfectly. it's been working ever since. I remember I searched for about 10 min. before finding your guide and when I did I got it working in 20 min. If I didn't find this i don't know how long it would have taken me to open my network ;). plus I know more about my router now. Anyways, thanks alot again =D
