Okay, I think we can work around the problem of not knowing which moderator is online.

I propose the mods start a locked and pinned thread in Zanzibar. Whenever a mod is online for a while to get to work, he just edits the thread title and puts his screen name in. Example: Active Moderators: Shishka, Recon. When there is only one mod on, and he needs to sign off, he can just edit the thread title to say "Last Active Moderator:".

That way posters in Zanzibar (the forum in dire need of constant moderation, IMO) know which mod(s) is/are most likely to be available for help.

So, Septagonians, any thoughts? Concerns?

My only concern is it can be viewed as a "When are all moderators not on" thread, y'know what I mean?

No company that uses terms like, head-to-head, man-on-man, action-sack, and mancannon is homophobic.
I supposed that teabagging is.... what, a representation of a new form of colonoscopy?

Yes, dmbfan's right, spammers will just go there and start spamming when no moderators are on.

Well I see two problems. When no mods are on, then thats when the spam will come out of the cracks. Also its probably going to be a bit a nuisance for the mods to keep editing it. Maybe if they brought the "Who's Online" box on the side of the page that they used to have for chapters, and just used it for mods instead.

The last mod should remain on any list until a new one gets on, then there would be no abuse. I'm not even sure if it'll be needed if the karma system works well.

My friend, you would not tell with ſuch high zeſt
To children ardent for ſome deſperate glory,
The old Lie: Dulce et decorum eſt
Pro patria mori.

It's a good idea in theory, but in practice I can imagine that every now and then one or more of the mods [who, afterall are only human] will forget to edit it and the system will fall appart.

I'm still convinced that giving a few select, trusted members the use of an 'alert moderator' button to add the thread to an 'attention needed' list visible only to mods would solve a lot of the problems we have here. You'd effectively enlarge the number of mods for detection purposes without giving actual power to anyone new.

That's a great idea man, and I believe it'll only go to show just how many more moderators are needed. So I like it even more.

You know a better way of doing that would just be to make more moderators. Seriously I know me going on about this as much as I do must make it seem I want to be one, I don't. I'm on very irregularly and so would be crap. But you for example (Sir Frag), Psyched and Vella (only examples) are on a -blam!--load. You're friendly, helpful guys as well so I'm baffled as to why some of the Bungie webteam don't come down off of their little 'power trip' and make this place better. A Karma system in my view could be abused very easily. More Moderators however, that enjoy speaking out, taking part in things, that's a much simpler and more effective way in my opinion as to how to solve the problem of idiocy on these boards.
