It is a sure sign alright and I am with you. However I think this will make you scream with joy (if Bungie does something like it)
I was the last man standing. There was support until just a moment ago. Roughly 20 marines had been slaughtered by the Covenant armor advance. I looked up in the city skies and I saw a quartet of Banshees make a pass over me. I held still to avoid detection. I gripped my MA5B and watched as they passed. In the background I could hear the screams of civilians that were scattered about and executed by the merciless Jackals and Grunts.
They were too damn efficent. I counted nearly 7 Creep APCs and 3 Wraiths as escort. I could catch how many Ghosts there were. Too damn many of them. I decided to move out. Slowly I crept out from my cover and spotted a pair of Grunts. I gave a sustained burst and they dropped dead.
Quickly I found new cover under a pile of rubble as my gun shots alarmed the armored patrols. They sent two Creeps and a Wraith my way. I froze praying they would not see me. Infantry diembarked and scattered about shooting a few rounds into the shadows. A plasma bolt missed my head by mere inches. I was lucky. Had I been hit my shields would have flared and I'd stick out like a sore thumb.
The infantry passed on and entered a nearby structure. It inner workings could be seen and I was amazed it was still intact. I almost moved when I noticed the amor was on station keeping. Which ment if I stuck my head out I was screwed out of luck. So I had to think. All I had for armarment was my assault rifle, an S2 AM with three clips and a pair of plasma grenades. The grenades.
I crawled over to the edge of my cover and saw the lead Creep was perpendicular to my position and blocked the view of the Wraith and its fellow Creep. I primed the first plasma grenade and it made contact. I then threw the other one just as the first exploded.
In five seconds time the Gunner and Driver had been flung to the ground as charred and bloodied masses. The other explosion had knocked out a hover pod on the bottom forcing it to a crawl should it ever be piloted again.
The Jackals and Grunts spun towards the explosions. Immediately I ran. I lowered my rifle and sprinted to a far away tower that had been abandoned. The tower was the only thing left standing of Fire Base Delta. Once I got there I climbed the prefab structure to the top. Almost all of its armor had been melted off and plasma scoring peppered the sides.
Once atop I ducked parying nothing would see me. I heard the battle cries of the enemy and the howl of the Banshee patrols. I brought up my S2 AM and saw the Banshees fly overhead. I aimed for the back and then I woke up because my cat jumped on my face.
But yeah, it was freaking awesome.
